Who do you think you are?
a. Hi everyone, my name is Sally and I almost always have a smile on my face. I’m kind of a “go with the flow” kind of person, but when it comes down to getting my priorities straight, I know when to get back in the zone.
b. One of my concerns, as everyone has almost mentioned, is my gpa. As a former teacher of mine said, “You’re entering real life now.” So, I feel like adjusting will be little bit tough because I’m not accustomed to the testing style of the professors I have, but I’m sure after the first couple, everything will hopefully be a breeze. Another is fitting in. Coming from an all-girl Catholic school, the atmosphere at Baruch is much different due to the much diversity and, of course, NO UNIFORMS! haha But I miss the uniforms because it stinks to have to wake up every morning to pick clothes to wear, even though, sometimes i put on a tee and sweats. Lastly, time management and hw. I have a problem of not being able to focus on school work when I have social networking on. Like I’ll get my work done, it’s just that I could’ve been done with the work probabaly more than 2 hours before I actually start it.
c. As I said before, the uniforms is one of the transitions I have to go through… and the big one… GUYS! Although, I probably made my lifetime friends at my high school, it’s so great to finally to see guys instead of girls everyday of my 4 years. Not that I wouldn’t see guys, because I was on a club team and there were guys on it… It’s just that I can finally go a day without one girl telling me how she wants to find a boyfriend. hahahaha But all in all, I really miss my high school because we were like a family. We tended to each other’s needs as if we were sisters and that’s probably the toughest transition going into college.
d. I think College will help me to become more responsible and less dependent on my parents. I’m going to have to mae the decisions.

Who do you think you are?
My name is Holly, I am eighteen, living in Manhattan right now but from Long Island. I like the city life but miss being five minutes away from the beach!
My main concerns for my freshman year aren’t just academic. My main concern is rehabbing my shoulder enough so I can play softball this upcoming spring, I don’t really know what I would do if I couldn’t play. I quite possibly just bury myself in a hole. Another concern of mine is keeping my grades up. Sometimes, in the dorms, it can be really hard to keep motivated when everyone around you is fooling around and having fun. It’s almost always easier to close your books and join them but I will myself not too. Another concern is getting lost!! My roommates and I are constantly just wandering around never knowing where we are, hopefully we will figure it out soon.
For one thing, in high school there wasn’t much of a struggle to be able to keep your grades up while you were in season but college is totally different. I am not the kind of person to slack off but I am nervous I won’t be able to do softball and school at 100% of the time every day and that will drive me crazy.
Living out here forces you to grow up, on Long Island there are no subways or buses you have your own car so you need to learn how to depend on mass transit to get around. At home I didn’t need to worry about what I was going to make for dinner or when to go food shopping and I definitely never bothered doing my own laundry but now I have to do everything for myself so in more ways then one I will become a lot more independent.

Who do you think you are?
My name is Mazhar Siddique, and I’m an 18 year old person, I was born in Brooklyn and that’s also where I live now, though I went to high school in manhatten.
B) one of my main concerns is not getting a good gpa. I fear this cause I’m still adjusting to college, and though it seems a bit easier now, I’m sure it’ll get much harder. Another concern I have is that I wont be able to make friends until very late in my college career, this is because while I was friends with the majority of my high school, they were really nice people, and it was a small school, so I fear that this new setting means it’ll take longer to make good friends. Another concern is trying to join more clubs then just one. There are so many clubs to choose from and most of them only meet during club hours!
C) I feel that without my friends, it means that I have to take more responsibility and not expect my friends to cover me when I’m absent or explain me the lecture if I don’t understand it.
D) Hopefully It’ll make me accustomed to this new environment and allow me to get used to the college life and make more friends.

Who do you think you are?
A. I am an intelligent, beautiful, and strong minded young lady who is not afraid of a challenge and trying new things. I may seem quiet at first but as you get to know me, I am the total opposite. I am simply Nia
B. One of my top concerns about my freshman year at Baruch College is maintaining an excellent GPA. Being that this is my first semester of college, I really not sure of how college professors grade. A class that I may have been exceptionally well in in the past may not translate to my college professors. Another concern is staying friends with the people in block 48. For our second semester, we are allowed to make our own schedules but I hope we all still remain friends. Another concern is for me to not only indulge in my academics, but to have a social life as well.
C. The CRUCIAL NEED for great time management skills is what makes my Baruch College experience different from my high school experience. In High School, you can get away with cramming for an exam the night before or maybe even the period before, but in college cramming will do you no justice.
D. My first year of college will teach me even the more about responsibility and time management skills.

Who do you think you are?
a. I’m Jessica, and I love trying out new things. I was born in Manhattan but raised in Brooklyn. I am who I am today because of my family and close friends.
b. One of my main concerns is doing well (getting a great GPA and maintaining it), because classes here seem harder than they were in HS. Since some classes are big, professors don’t really get to know their students, or care about them, enough. Another concern is that I won’t be able to get involved with anything since there are so many clubs and I can’t choose which one I want to belong in. I’m also worried that I won’t sign up for the simnet exam on time and do all the other requirements for this year.
c. The atmosphere is completely different from my high school. There are so many people! My close friends aren’t with me anymore since they went to different colleges, so that’s going to be an adjustment for me. The type of classes I take will make the experience different as well.
d. I will (hopefully) learn new things and have new experiences that will make me grow as a person.

Who do you think you are ?
a. My name is Christie Li. I am 17 years old and from Brooklyn. One fact about me is that I like Hello Kitty – a lot. We share the same birthdays.
b. My biggest concern overall is building my GPA. I understand that my GPA is not everything, but however, it is a bit easier to start off with a good foundation in grades than rather try to boost it up in the later years. Hopefully I can do well in my freshman year, so I don’t have to worry it about as much in my junior and senior year. Also, another concern is the balance between school and fun. I don’t think I manage my time effectively so I’m going to have to learn to change my ways in order to do well in school and be social. I’ve already joined a club, so it’s a start. Lastly, the workload is going to be difficult. Since I have at least two classes a day, I have to read and study plenty to keep up in the classes. It’s especially difficult on days when I have three classes.
c. I will definitely have to be more independent and self-reliant. There isn’t going to be a “guidance counselor” helping me, giving me updates and guiding me throughout the year.
d. Freshman year of college will definitely give me a better taste of being an adult. It will make me more mature and make me start to think about a career path I would like to head towards.

Who do you think you are?
My name is Lily Wong and I grew up in Brooklyn but moved to Queens during high school (family). I like to hang out with my friends, play games and eat!
1. Speech communication will be a really hard class for me because I am not good with doing presentations and just talking with people in general.
2. Getting good grades will be difficult because the workload compared to high school is already 10 times more.
3. Procrastination is a big one because this is the one that will drag me down if I do not organize my time and do my work early.
Baruch definitely has a lot more people than in high school so I think it would be easier to meet new people and make new friends. Baruch College will also push me to work as hard as I can compared to high school where I could slack off and still get good grades.
I think the first year at College will help me organize my time and develop good study habits. I also think it can help bring me out of my comfort zone with the speech communication class.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
well as my username says im joel. Im Dominican and i think i pretty much enjoy the same things as any guy or person really. Music, sports, hanging out(especially parties), games, the usual.
My biggest concern is keeping up with the work. You pretty much have to stay on top of your own stuff which isnt a problem for me im just afraid ill miss something that will end up screwing me over.
Related to that im concerned with keeping a good GPA which as Michael said matters a great amount, so im hoping to keep it high.
another concern is my major although ive pretty much decided that want to do business and that it does interest im hoping that i wont take classes and not be as interested in it as i originally thought i would be and end up switching my major multiple times.
everyone seems to have a much more firm hold on life and themselves. the maturity level is also much higher which i definitely appreciate.
i think my first year at Baruch will show me something about what really interests me, at least i hope.

Who do you think you are?
I’m Xunlong, Andy, Zhang(in fact, I think I’m much more responsive to “Andy” than “Xunlong”) .
I was born in Beijing, China. Moved to Queens, New York when I was 10, and have lived there since. I don’t exactly have a role-model; I just use my own judgment to do what I think is the most appropriate at the time.
I am a procrastinator, and I am bad at math. And this is why Math is my biggest concern for this semester. As we’ve seen, our math professor doesn’t seems to be all that helpful.
My second concern is the overall workload. Now, I’m getting more work for one day than an entire week’s worth of hw back in high school. I’m not sure if i can finish all the work on time to be able to pass the exams.
My third concern is that, because I have to invest so much time and energy on college work, I’m afraid that this might cause my skills at everything else to deteriorate. this can be skills of my favorite hobbies and/or skills of my sports.
The biggest difference that I’ve felt is that, college students are, over-all, much more mature than high school students. In college everyone knows they’ve got to work hard to do well, and everyone is working hard to prepare themselfs for “the real world” out there.
I think the first year at Baruch will teach me a lot of things. It’ll teach me how to work hard and take in as much knowledge as possible. It’ll teach me how to interact and work with peers more effectively. and hopefully, it’ll also prepare me for the more difficult tasks yet to come.

Who do you think you are?
I think I am Michael Kishk. I am 17 years old, was born in Brooklyn and I have lived there since. I am a very hard worker and I get very stressed out at times. I hate procrastinating and I always have to do good in school. My top 3 concerns about my freshmen year at baruch are
1. I am nervous that the workload is going to be a lot to handle and I may not have such an easy time juggling all of the work
2. Your GPA is everything in college so I am concerned that since I am not used to being in college this may cause me to not do so good at first and that can have a serious long term effect on my GPA
3.Im concerned that I am going to get sick of taking the train everyday and eventually want to switch out and go to a school that is a located closer to my house.
So far I can see that the student life here at Baruch is much different from that of my high school. There are so many clubs and organizations to be in and that can really change the college experience. Also in high school you can get away with whatever you want whenever you wanted but that doesn’t fly here. I could have went a year in high school without doing any work and still get 95 on my report card but in college you need to put in the effort.
I think my first year of college will change me in the fact that I will mature. Also i will become a lot more independent. In high school you can always depend on others but in college you really only have yourself.
