Career Workshop #1
Career workshop #1 was extremely helpful; it made me realize I am not the only one who is unsure of a major, or having trouble choosing one. I realized most people are undecided, and many of them are second-year students which made me feel like I have plenty of time to explore.
The activity we did, analyzing our personality and interests, helped me realize what kind of classes I should probably take next semester. This activity gave us a list of values and interests, and based on what we picked we were shown possible majors and minors we could be interested in.Unfortunately I could not attend the second part of this workshop, but even just being at this first part of the workshop was very helpful.

During this past summer I volunteered at St. Francis Hospital, which is located very close to my house. My work consisted of helping patients and their families as they were being discharged from the hospital, bringing the newspapers to current patients and helping the nurses with their paperwork.
I would wake up early in the morning on the days I was off from work, and go to the hospital for about 4 hours. There was always something to do, somebody to help out; even on the days that were slow I could find somebody to talk to, and sometimes be the listening friend that everybody needs every once in a while.
The time I spent at the hospital, which was only about 2-3 months, was extremely rewarding, and I would love to have the opportunity to do it again. Maybe over the winter break, or next summer.

My name is Ana Elisa, I like our learning community, and how everybody talks on facebook about homework and such. I never used that facebook group until today, and it was very helpful. (thank you guys).
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to New York in 2006. I was going to be a freshman in High School that year but they wouldn’t allow it because of the language barrier, so I repeated eighth grade. I was frustrated at first, but over time I was okay with it. Now I’m glad that happened because otherwise I would not be with my friends where I am right now, and probably would not know the people I know today. I absolutely love New York, especially NYC. And I also love Venezuela like no other. My father still lives there but he comes and visits every two months or so. (he is coming for Christmas!) so it is not bad. Also, I just went there this past summer and saw all my friends again
I have three younger sisters, they are super annoying but now that I live away from home I miss them, and actually get along with them when I see them haha. I have two cats and a dog. He is a german sheperd, and is very cute. Fun fact about one of my cats: he recently escaped for a day and when he came back he left a bird on my sister’s bed (it was obviously dead, so she obviously freaked out) Now I just have a fish that my roomate and I named Zacharias James Franco; we are not allowed to have pets in our dorms, and the fish was easy to sneak in.
