First semester

Baruch College lived up to my expectation. Most of my classes weren’t hard and a few were. I made friends that I’m sure will be there for me when I need them. There were many clubs , so if I ever wanted to join a club I certainly will be able to.
Well my first semester at Baruch was okay, I can’t say how well I did but I did try my best, and I think that’s what matters most.
If I could start my first semester all over again, the few things i would do are try even harder, join at least one club and join a sport team.
I have changed since I started Baruch, I have learned a lot about life.  I’m not saying bad things but things that I have never noticed before I really started to notice. My classes really changed the way I look at the world.

Breast Cancer Walk

I woke up late that morning. I didn’t know to get there. I was in such a panic, I didn’t even have time to eat breakfast. I got directions and rushed out of the house. My dad came along since I don’t go on the subway that much. This is my first year riding the subway by myself. While going there we ended up getting lost on the subway. After a while we finally figured out where we had to go. We ended up taking a taxi so I wouldn’t be late. It was amazing how many people showed up. It really showed that we all truly care about the health of others, and that we really want everybody to keep smiling and staying healthy. I had a lot of fun cheering everyone on.

Monologue

I love to smile. The sights and sounds of happiness around me make me smile. The sadness around me makes me sad. I wish to help everyone I can, to make more people smile, and laugh.  Want peace in the world. My family and friends are very important to me, the reason I smile. They make me who I am today. They are there for me when I am sad and when I fall. They are the greatest treasure I have. My life would be nothing without them their on my side.  A child’s smile makes me have hope. The sparkle in their eyes shows me the bright future ahead. I may be young, I may not have much, but my  dreams are big and I’ll prove to the world that a smile can truly create happiness and make peace around the world.

My thoughts

Maham, when I hear my name the first thing that comes to mind is , Pakistani American Muslim. I’m a very hard working person, I wish for everyone to smile, and I hope that one day where ever I am, I will make everyone around me happy.  I’m very loving and caring. I’m a role model for my little sister. Many of my friends know me inside and out; I’m an open book, well after you get to know me.  Like if you’re not a friend you would never know that I listen to Korean music or even the fact that I watch Japanese dramas. That I have a big fear of animals, no matter how cute they are.My top three concerns in college are, finding friends, getting use to the college atmosphere, and being able to handle the work load. After coming to college though all these concerns are gone, thanks to the block program.  I have made a few friends that are helping me get use to the college atmosphere, as well as the work load.  Everything is falling into place. Baruch is different from high school for the very fact that I have to go on the bus and subway every day. The protected child has to face the real world. This change is just a very big one on its own, but another change is the very fact I’m no longer in Queens, and now in the city. I can finally explore the city and learn what’s it’s all about.  The changes I expect after my first year of college in my life , is being more independent, yet learn that I will always have help available if I need it.The changes and concerns may be the same for many other freshmen, yet the way we face them and experience will always be different.  I will always be my unique self, and they will always be their unique self.
