Today, our art history class visit the museum of jewish heritage together. unless the professor emphasis how mandatory the class trip is( final exam questions will be based on today’s trip), i won’t go today. but overall,it is a great experience .
currently,the museum held a new exhibition in conjuction with the 125th anniversary of the dedication of the statues of liberity.and we get to know Emma,Lazarus,one of American’s first jewish writers.the exhibition brings new insight into the world of Emma Lazarus,including her background,her family,her close friends,her achivement (publish her own book when she truned to 17years old,distinguished!).A well-educated, talented, passionate and responsible figure emerged in my brain.it is a great pity that she died in 38- year- old. However, The new colossus wrote by Emma in 1907 will carry continue to encourage generation after generation newcomers to American. those difficult words make some difficultis for me to read,but i understand this sentece: give me your tired,your poor,your huddled masses yearing to breathe free…” i am moved. it express great altitude to welcome immigrants and encourage them to create their own life in this fabuluous land.
later, we went to the 3rd floor.each of us was given a audio headphone.we can hear some immigrants’ verbal story as long as you touch the certain area. this technology is pretty cool. theri story are broke into several part,such as “home”,”liberity”,”adapting”,”leaving””welcome” etc. everybody is a book,a book that can’t be explained in just one or two sentence. behind 5-minutes story,there must be tons of undescribed emotion and many many details.i was listening,listening,listening,siliently.i heard a voice arise from my mind,” hey,coco,rememberthe day you lauch the u.s.a, 5/26?that is your second birthday.you began your new life here beyond your imagination. And you will never be alone since those old immigrants can do such a great job,you can do it,too.don’t you notice that?”
it reminds me of a lot things.My father told me his tough life ten years ago. Not so many Chinese lives in America. So, discrimination against Chinese is pretty common.A lof people hold unbeliveable prejudice to Chinese.Once, he delivered 5 dollar lunch to an American.He says wrong address in the phone. Then my father figures out the right address for a while and thus delay a little bit.This person felt very angry,saying that he is almost die of hungry.Even worse, he cursed my father”****” and tossed him 1 dime .My father although humiliated but saying nothing ,just toseed 1 dime back. That is so ridiculous. Now everything changes. Chinese immigrants proves their ability through variety fields.Success are made,not born.
hmm,we also take a look at jewish people’s culture heritage .But i don’t have strong impression about that>.<
one more thing,i pretty enjoy the beautiful view outside.sea,benches,garden,trees,flowers,statures of liberity~ i come out an idea suddenly.why not build a holiday inn here? wow,a luxtry place to relax yourself^.^
wave to the status of liberity. i will come to see you the other day. i just look it up on website,this musuem is free to the public every Wedenesday from 4 p.m to 8 pm actually.

travel or read, either mind or body should be on the way.
travelling and reading is my favourite.
when i was tired, i would like to walk in manhattan . i love nyc,a city that never sleeps. from long time ago, i have seen the pulse and new york different sights .but…to really,walk here in the heart of manhattan ,is just the utimate. new york although recognized a business pool,in reality, art is filled up in and out. and everyone has its sense of art by its unique dressing style. it doesn’t mean they are rich because money can’t buy style. it is because we think highly of art and benefit a lot from different culture. sometimes, i will find a nice accesories shop or card designer shop.and then i will take picture of the elegant goods there( i don’t have money to buy it). well,just looking at those fashionable window show, i feel great satisfaction. sometimes, i like to look for a nice coffee shop and enjoy a cup of coffee while smelling sweet bakery or something. swetness expand in the air and finally into my body. rumble … btw, i am determined to gather the valuable tour information by my own and write some comments about it,like ten must see attractions or some nice stores you probably don’t know. and maybe it will become a tour guide for other visitors.haha~
reading is also my favorite, hmm, i always read chinese books.recently ,i begin to push myself to read english books.because the library provide so much valuable resource to us ,if not use them,that will be a great loss of us. national geography worth reading. My Antonia
Immigrant is a good book ,too. it is about pioneers strive to adapt to the Nebraska prairies.
i feel like college makes me think more than ever. why? because it’s not very easy to make good social network in college.people are more mature in college. so if i want to make friends with an excellent person,i have to be excellent enough to socialize with him/her. the only way to achieve that goal is to learn more and become a person as thoughful and wise as that excellent person. right? social capital is based on your cultural capital.
so far so good, i still need to work harder ,but play harder.^.^

Last week , i take the sociology mid-term test ;today ,i take the art mid-term test.both of them makes me exhausted. i know the significance of mid-term test and i really make a effort,but i am pretty sure that i screwt it up .
what is the name of the art work? what is the background of this art work? what do you see in common for the different time art work? i feel like even though i read the book the night before, i still have difficulty answering questions,bolt… if just read without inquiring,without understanding,without taking notes, then the reading stuff will flow away as soon as you close the book. it’s easilier to said than done. i really have to push myself to modify my studying habit.don’t be a last minute person. if you can’t do well even in academics,what can you do? to be a student as 10 more years, you still don’t realize the right way to succeed in academics?

it seems like i need to catch up my american political government.

i am outgoing and socialble girl,but also can be cold sometimes. But genera. lly speaking,if i think you are a good person and i am willing to be friend with you,i will be the nicest one lol Helping friends to solve friend makes me feel powerful and energetic. I remember at the very beginning of the college year,i help several new friends to order textbooks online.i am glad that i can help them out. and that’s how we make a connection with people ,right?
i am pretty pretty sleepy in soe classes because i really don’t prefer the teaching styles of some professors. they are great ,but i can hardly adjust to his pedal. i want to try harder ,but the things is that i don’t know how to use my strength~~ i know there is a good place named sacc。i hope it will help me somehow.
the top 3 concerns is 1 how to improve my oral english and writing english.2 what is my interest and potential on earth? i am curious about everything.it’s a good thing but also a bad thing. 3 get a good GPA.
high school year doesn’t differ too much from college life because i don’t have dorm life~sign~(great pity~) when in high school,my hard work brings me a lot of honour but here,college is a new start.past is just a past.everyone is at the same beginning line.nobody care who you are in your past life.i believe no pain,no gain. so i’ll learn how to coporate with my schoolmates to achieve my goal step by step.
but having fun is also a important part in college life.first year,i plan to enjoy college events as much as possible..the second year,think about studying aboard or exciting programs .third year,i will focus on my major study.fourth year,intership.enn

Well, I’ve experienced my first real weekend of college. It was a little bit different than what
I expected.The class is really long .I even have a highlighted writing practice English class as long as 3 hrs.
Explorting every corner and every office is my strength.I became more familiar with the school facility.The gym is pretty nice.I rent a locker room there.Next ,I plan to go there regularly to exercise.After exercise , i can take a quick shower ,enjoy the sauna room and refresh my body,and then go home.Nice.
So many clubs out there.Some strange,some dunk,some formal,I plan to get involve the baruch dsp club(i don’t know how to spell the greek word)because the president is pretty attractive to me.emm.also,my orientation leader chris is one of them,too.i also hope to join sports team,maybe cheerleading or volleyball? hope no experience needed.
i want so much things to be done,but don’t know where and how to begin.will i become different after 4yrs?how does baruch shape me? a ha~
