1.]Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived (or not lived) up to your expectations. Has it exceeded your expectations? So far, my experience at Baruch College has exceeded my expectations. When I first arrived in late August, I was not feeling too confident about how much I would enjoy my time at this school and I was feeling supremely pessimistic. As I got used to my classes, met new people and saw that I was doing well I got over my negative outlook and essentially got into the swing of things.
2.]How well do you think your first semester went? It’s difficult to believe that my first semester will be over within a couple of weeks. My first semester went well, I had a great schedule, really nice professors and a decent workload. I’m a member of two music organizations and am really looking forward to see what my college career will bring me.
3.]What would you do differently if you could do it all again? I probably wouldn’t do it all again, Baruch is most likely where I’m meant to be and where I’m meant to stay. As my favorite artist Fiona Apple says, “If there was a better way to go than it would find me”.
4.]How have you changed since you started at Baruch College? I am definitely more street smart, my time management skills have sharpened and since the escalators are usually down, I’ve grown an immunity to climbing massive staircases.

Monologue
The college admission process was a difficult one for me. Not because I had any trouble writing the dreaded essays or spending hours on the common application, it was because I had no idea what school I was going to choose. The last choice on my list was the very school we are standing in now. I did not want to attend a CUNY school. My mother even encouraged me to apply to the local community college, Queensborough Community College so I could be close to home aka in her grip forever. I would not have that. I remember we would get into such bickering arguments that ended up going nowhere, as debates usually do. My dream school was Northeastern University, located in Boston. Conveniently located very far away from home, Northeastern had a great Music Industry program which was what really caught my eye. Anything but staying in queens would have been fantastic, but unfortunately other things came into play.
One of the most striking arguments my mother made was how much debt I would be in if I decided to attend a school like Northeastern. And it’s true, I already spend enough money commuting in the city, imagine living expenses in an entirely different state. The next best school I had to settle for was Baruch College. Not too close but not too far away from home. When I first came here, I was dreading it. Now that I have gotten my feet wet with the college experience, things aren’t so bad. After all, life is what you make it, and I wasn’t about to let my pessimistic attitude ruin some of the most important years of my life.
