Reflection
Now that my first semester of college is coming to an end I feel a bit relieved yet not satisfied with my progress.
I began the semester hoping that I would be able to achieve a decent GPA but I have let myself down. Although I was able to go through the first semester and pass all my courses, there were many things that made me feel as though I could have done better. Instead of spending more time on the computer I should have spent more time studying. Instead of choosing to not do my work I should have put more effort into doing it.
One of the major problem I had was time management. I lost track of time and I was unable to get all my work done on time. Now that I am able to sign up for classes on my own and setting up my own schedule, I feel that I will be more successful in keeping track of my time during the second semester.

Surviving College 101 Section: FTA 2011-10-17 23:05:49
I remember my first day of high school, energized and excited to meet my new classmates and teachers. Having been accepted into Bronx Science, my parents had high expectations of me and expected me to do well, pushing me harder in order to get me to complete my assignments and study for the tests so that I can be successful in school and in life. But where did I end up? After the first few months of high school I realized a truth about myself and I was forced into closing myself off from others and avoiding new friendships. Is this how I will pass my time in high school? The same daily routine everyday? Wake up, go to school, attend class, go home, go on the computer, and lastly going to sleep.
Here I am now, in college, hoping to further my education and get a job in the future. I wonder about my future every day, not knowing where I will end up, what will become of me, and wishing for something to happen that will totally change who I am. I hope that during my time in college, I will be able to find something of interest to me and attempt to pursue the goals that I may have.
I am not sure if someone else came up with this quote already or where it comes from but I felt in a sense that I do this sometimes. “When all else fails, try the unthinkable.” When I think if this, it kind of relates to “thinking outside the box” where you try to solve a problem by looking at it in another perspective or trying something you would normally believe to have not worked.
Because of my many insecurities, I am not able to see very far into my future and where I will end up, but instead, all I can think about is what is going to happen tomorrow and what are we going to do in class.

Who Do You Think You Are?
To me, college is like taking a journey to find one’s self, not knowing where you will end up and what experiences you can gain. College is different from high school in many ways in which you are given more freedom to decide what path you want to take and it is your own responsibility to reach out and participate in the many opportunities given to you.
One of my main concerns about my freshman year at Baruch College is getting comfortable with the school and getting to know the resources available because unlike in high school, where you had some sort of guidance, it is up to yourself to get involved and get to know the resources and opportunities given to you and take advantage of them. Another concern from being a freshman in college is maintaining a good GPA.I feel that maintaining a good GPA is important because it opens up more opportunities and choices. In high school for example, those who achieved higher GPAs were rewarded with scholarships and opportunities at better Colleges while those with lower GPAs were given limited choices. In order to maintain a good GPA, one must show that they understand the subject and complete the assigned work within the given time. This leads me to my third concern in College, time management. I feel that time management will be my biggest concern in College because having been given all this extra time, I may slack off on my work and hold it off until the very end before completing it which may cause me to not do so well.
I am hoping that in my first year of College, I will be able to find out what I am interested in and decide on a major. Some changes that I expect from my first year of college is having to speak more in front of a large audience and making new friends in order to pass my time and have fun during my time in college.
