Money Management
Honestly the guy was cool but as a freshmen there was already a general lack of interest. I know I should have payed attention but the pamphlet he gave out already has all the information. But money management is still very important. Saving a couple of dollars here and there adds up. Spending money wisely leads to good future choices and great opportunities. Opportunities like using your money for good investment stocks that leads to more money instead of spending money on clothes and other leisure items. Don’t get me wrong its good to spend money on leisure items but not all the time and before you buy something you can ask yourself is this really worth it.

Rubin
I loved the place it was awesome. Learning about a culture so rich in history and stories is something I love doing. Especially something like Buddhism because Sri lanka(my country of origin) is very enriched in Buddhism. So in the museum it was no surprise when I saw Sri Lankan artifacts in the museum. As you can tell I’m a Sri Lankan nationalist I love my country. Anyways back to the museum, We saw a shrine created here in New York containing so many rare and hard to get artifacts its really amazing. What makes it more amazing is the fact that people actually come to pray at the museum at the American made Buddhism shrine.

Monologue
Hi I’m Arshan Sheedh. Born in Kandy Sri Lanka and raised in Queens New York for the last 16 years of my life. I guess you call me an optimistic realist. Basically someone who knows life isnt all fun and games but still has a positive outlook on life and all its misery. Don’t get me wrong I love to dream as well. When I was kid I hoped I grew to 6 feet 7 and become awesome at basketball and become a NBA baller. But I know now that isn’t possible. Haha thats not going to stop me from playing basketball and trying my best to become better and better.

Voices
Voices was very interesting and more personal this time than the first voices I went to. Probably more personal this time because I knew some of the people that wrote the monologues. Kind of makes me wish I spent time on my monologue so it could be read. Nevertheless the actors performed very well in acting out the raw emotions written in the writing. Literally some of the monologues were so touching and sad. It was bittersweet hearing my peers sad stories but it was good that they let it out and let it read out loud in a crowd of hundreds.

Light The Night
Walking for breast cancer was interesting experience, something new which I never did before. This forced charitable act was very uplifting. Everyone was happy, constantly smiling and carrying a friendly aura around. All of this happiness was very contagious. The walk made me good about myself. I did something that I can brag about but in a certain way.

My Introduction
My true birth name is Arshan Sheedh Ashraf. When I came to this country at the age of 2. The American government switched my name with my father’s name on my birth of certificate. I really dont understand how this happened but the result was the name Gulam Arshan Sheedh. The name that might appear on the registrar sometimes. But I digress, besides my name there is more to me. Such that I believe I’m a being of happiness. I always had an optimistic outlook on life. It would take a lot to make me sad or to hurt me. I will always bounce back like a reed after a hurricane.
One of my main concerns coming into Baruch was whether or not,the rumor of Baruch being anti social true. Well so far into the school year I have met a lot of people. People that I immediately connected to. So Baruch is definitely not anti social in my opinion. Another concern coming into college was mainly a mental problem of my own. I was worried I wasn’t ready for college. That I would procrastinate and fool around like I did in high school. However since Day one, I knew I was ready. My study habits changed. I know this because I go to the library almost everyday with my study group to get my work done. My final concern coming into Baruch was that if I was going to have any fun at all in this school. Just like the previous two concerns, this was quickly dispelled. I have been having a really fun experience so far. I have really enjoyed my first month of college.
