Blog #3
Well my experience at Baruch College wasn’t exactly as i had to picture it to be back in August. I knew what I was getting myself into with my education but with Baruch being a commuter school I didn’t think time and assignments would wind down on us so fast. It feels like 3 weeks ago we were beginning our journey into college and with finals week coming up It’s all about finishing off strong. I feel as grades wise I could’ve done much better but I think I did alright, what I would do differently is interact with more of my peers build relationships and connections. I feel as I have changed for the better ever since I started school at Baruch because I now see how hard work pays off and how being persistent gets you the A in school.

New York Blood Center
My experience donating blood was like another one ever before, I was a bit skeptical about donating but I felt as I need to do this. Knowing that someone out there needs a blood transfusion. I donated at the GEORGE WASHINGTON hotel and the process was a smooth 30 minutes I was in and out. They pricked my finger to check for HIV, and to check my blood pressure. Soon after I got comfortable and began the process of donating blood. Knowing that me and a few others took the initiative to donating and helping save someones life was amazing. When a bag and 4 small tubes of blood were full they collected the blood and felt great.

RESUME BUILDING WORKSHOP
At this workshop I kind of assumed ahead of time that the workshop would be dull but it was interesting. We justified in between which Resume/Coverletter deemed best and why. The class got to ask questions about how certain situations require us to tweak our resumes. Also very important neccessary tips for us to make our resume shine out over the rest. Overall I was astonished about how many little things must be done to produce a correct resume. She told us this rule of thumb that a hiring manager won’t spend more than a minute reviewing resume and cover letter so we must write short and sweet.

Musica
I don’t really know what to write about in my monologue but anyway
HERE WE GO…
My name is Ariel Olivares,
I am 18 years old and I’m Dominican. I am going to talk about an everyday necessity in my life MUSIC. I don’t think I could go one single day without listening to music. It’s that addicting I find it so inspiring sometimes a song might just give me that little boost I need in the morning to get up, or something to listen to whenever I’m bored etc.., with so many genres of music everyone
should be able to claim one category or artists their favorite. I feel that Music is everywhere whether someone is blasting rap music driving down the block in their car with the windows down. Or it’s the girl on the train listening to Katy
Perry it’s an everyday thing. I don’t know about you guys but sometimes I can’t get a song out of my head because it’s so catchy. MUSIC just straightforward is entertainment and its One of the few things that gets me going. Artists do a
great job of talking about real life occurrences and sing it in a song. This is the feeling I get when I really get into the rap lyrics of my music.

BLOG #1
For people that want to know Who Am I, I am Ariel Olivares, I was born on July 3, 1993 I would say that I am a honest, intellectual
young man with big dreams for the future. As a freshman I am planning out what I want my life to be like for the next couple of years.
I want to major in either Marketing or Operations Management it might not appeal to everyone but that’s
what’s great about every single one of us were all different. I want to make
sure I’m at the top of my game and getting my Bachelor’s here at Baruch will
get it done. I am also a huge sports I love watching all sports but my favorite
sport is Baseball, the excitement that I feel when I go to a MLB game is just
phenomenal. Also one of my hobbies that I would like to expand is traveling. I
love moving from place to place exploring new parts of the city I never been
too, knowing that in the back of my head I can’t lost. This determination
devoted student should do well in the future. Most freshman including myself
would be anxious or sort of nervous when they start out at a new school. One of
my biggest concerns was whether or not if I was going to make friends right
away. I was just hoping that I was going to recognize some of the kids that I
went to orientation with and some kids from High School. Right off the bat I
had my first class and I didn’t meet anyone but in my next few classes I
started recognizing a few peers and I was satisfied let’s say. Everyday we see
new faces on the Baruch campus, and the possibility of making new acquaintances.
My second concern was that I might not comprehend the material and be lost. I
felt like this because I’ve heard stories from other college students that if
you don’t take good notes in college you’re going to struggle comprehending
what you’re professor is teaching. Finally my third and final concern was my
time management, I always felt like I need to work on my time management in
order to achieve better grades in school. If I set up a daily routine and
didn’t leave my assignments for the last couple of days I should be in better
shape to enjoy my free time. What will make my college experience different
from H.S. is that this feels more like the real world nobody is going to just
hand you in you have to work for everything and that I don’t see all of my old
H.S. friends as much it’s just a part of life. I think the first year of
college won’t be perfect but it will test me mentally and I’ll just have to
grind it out.
