Voices IV
Voices IV was more emotional than Voices III but it was more entertaining and in a sense more relatable because it was written by our peers, not by upperclassmen like in Voices III. Most of the monologues were emotional and sad stories, like the with the girl and the cancer and how her friend helped save her life and the story about how the girl’s grandmother has passed away. One was funny though that I liked with the guy that off got the stage and started saying hilarious cultural references that we can all relate to such as “Rick Ross”. These Voices’ performances are repetitive but overall it was a good performance, very well acted out.

Rubin Museum
Visiting the Rubin Museum was a great experience because even though I learned about buddhism and its beliefs in the past I never saw its artifacts and art before. I was intrigued by the exhibition which was the praying area where people who practice buddhism come to pray. It was a sacred are with Buddha in the middle surrounding with candles ( I think it was 7) and it was important because it was the most religious part of the museum, and it is clearly very important to those practicing this religion. I also enjoyed the art of the religion as well as the interactive map of how the land changed over time. I liked this Museum because I learned about something I normally wouldn’t learn about.

Money Management
I posted this on November 7th but you marked it missing so ill just post it again
This seminar was informative to a certain extent but I didn’t really gain much from it. The key is to use cash rather than credit cards so you won’t be in debt when you get older. Thats the only important thing. The bit he did with the if you give tea from home rather than buying it every morning you can save money is true but you won’t save that much money in the long run. The motive of the seminar was to encourage students to save money as they go through college and Im sure he educated a few people.

Monologue
Writing this at 2:12 in the morning embodies basically who I am and how much I procrastinate and I hope to do all that I can to make sure this awful habit doesn’t stay with me through high school. I was very excited and hopefully prepared to leave high school and start college, the beginning of the rest of my life. I hope to make this college experience the best that I can and make connections with the right people and participate in the right programs. I am prepared to work hard, study hard, and hopefully move into a direction for a good career in my future. But before that I must change a few things about myself. I have to stop procrastinating and start taking school more seriously because even though teachers care less, I should care more because this isn’t pass or fail high school, this is the rest of my life and decisions I make now are going to shape who, and where I am in the future. Whats important to me is my family. Without them I wouldn’t be encouraged or motivated to do many things I do now. No matter what I do or where I am they support me which helps me and encourages me through my journeys in life. I hope to take this motivation and turn it into a drive, a drive to get a 4.0 in school, to obtain a good career and make something out of myself, to make my parents and family proud but more importantly to make myself proud. Who I am is not as important as what I can do and how much I stride to do it. I need to focus during my time in college so I can live a good life after college and be who I always wanted to be. In NYC anything is possible, so we will just have to wait and see. I’ll try to keep it kosher.

A Time to Serve
A time to serve is an article about the current situation in the United States and how the government is spending its money and how its effecting Americans. The government is spending all its money on wars and people are left jobless on the street. With this current situation in the economy the rich will be richer and the poor will be poorer which is not the best direction for the nation and its citizens. People, are looking for jobs days on end but its limited and most people are left jobless. Giving the government more power by investing in new borns isn’t a bad idea because its secures the future of our future children but I believe its too big of a task to take on and this plan proposed in the article to do this is just talk.

Light the night
I am very sorry that my blogs are late, I had to get a replacement computer after my old one crashed.
Even though I don’t volunteer or partake in many activities like this, I was extremely happy that I was forced to go on this and by the end of it I was delighted that I went. I was happy to walk the bridge for a great cause with thousands of other New Yorkers and you can really sense that you can make a difference just by doing little things like walking a bridge. Im happy that I went because as we got there I got to experience a Occupy Wallstreet rally which was great to be a part of and see firsthand rather than see it on youtube or read about it in the news. It was a great rally for a good cause and Im glad I got to see it. Overall I am very happy I went on this walk, it helped me understand that I can really help and make a difference just by doing more and more of things like light the night, which I intend to do in the future
