Workshop #1
From the 1st workshop I’ve learned that we shouldn’t believe everything we see on the internet. They showed us Desiree Jennings as an example and what she did to get money from the doctor that gave her the shot. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVQKA_CpQfk) Of course we knew she was faking it, but it was a great example of how people can fake things and show us wrong things to make a profit out of it. They thought us what are the things we should look for when we’re looking for something online. It was a really helpful workshop and I’m glad I didn’t miss this one.

Baruch so far has been what I expected. It’s a really nice place and I’ve made some really good friends over this semester. To be honest I thought everyone was going to be bunch of nerds when I first got here, but I met some really cool people and I tell everyone how awesome it is here. I’m doing so much better than I expected. In High School I never opened a book for 4 years but in college I’m actually studying, and I hope that I don’t get lazy and start slacking. If there was something I could change It would be not taking the summer class for math and would be enjoying my summer, because im takin the same class again and I’m doing pretty good at it. I like baruch and i am looking forward to the rest of my time here.

Dear Professor ,
I’m having a difficulty understanding the things you’re talking about in class. I believe if you make slideshows rather than just talking about something for an hour it would be more helpful.
Sincerely,
Cihan Yildiz
(ps. I just wrote that bcs I didn’t know what to write about)
My Monologue :
Soccer is really important in my life. I moved to United States 3 years ago, and didn’t speak a word of English. After a year of not speaking English, and barely having couple of friends I joined the soccer team. To be a part of the team I had to communicate with them and be a part of them, and that helped me learn English so much faster. I was a big part of the team, I had a lot of friends and I made my family proud because I was an all-star my junior year. Soccer helped me so much in high school and now it’s just a big hobby that i love to do.

Hi my name is Cihan Yildiz. I’m a nice and friendly person that likes to go out and spend time with people i like. I moved to United States three years ago from Turkey and when i first moved here I didn’t speak a word of English. It was really hard for me to adopt but now I don’t really have problems with the language. I’m a hard worker I always work hard for something i really want. I love spending time with my family, and girlfriend. Even if I am in a really bad mood, just seeing them can put me back in a good mood.
My top 3 concerns about college are getting good grades, enjoying the college life, and learning how to study. I need to get good grades to pass my classes so i don’t think I need to explain why I need good grades. I didn’t just come here to learn, i want to have some fun too. I don’t think I have ever studied for a test in my life, that’s why I always have to pay attention in class and get everything. After I get home only school work I do is my homework, I never spend any time going over the stuff we learned, and i know that that has to change for me to be accomplished.
Baruch College is not that different from the high school i went to. I went to high school for one year in Turkey and I can tell that that was so much harder than my freshman year here. The only difference I’ve seen so far from high school is that we actually have to do our homework. I think I only did like four or five homeworks in high school. I would just use the lie that my English is not good enough so I didn’t really get what we had to do so they wouldn’t really say anything, but here that probably won’t work. I actually want to do my homework because I believe it will help me know more about the stuff we learned in class so I don’t really have a problem with that.
I think my first year of College will make me a more mature person. I used to not care about anything and just think about having fun, drinking, going out, getting with some hot girls but since College started I’m trying to figure out what I want to be and I don’t have as much time as I used to, to do that stuff. I already feel more mature than I used to be. I respect people more than I used to do, I don’t make fun of people as much as I used to. I also believe College helps us finds friends that we may be friends with for the rest of our lives, or the people that we’re going to do business with.
