My Workshop Experience

So I went to this “Writing Winning Resume” workshop today. Man, did that help A LOT. The bitches there really know what they were talking about. At least as long as I was there.

Unfortunately, I had to leave early due to a practice that I had to go to. I tried to convince my coach to let me miss a little but she was like, “If you miss practice, you better be living on a prayer. Find someone’s hand, and you’ll make it I swear, woah-o. you’re living on a prayer.”

I wasn’t quite sure what she meant but I grabbed my roommate’s, Taylor, hand. He said, “WOAH-O. We’re living on a prayer.” And then he grabbed our other friend’s hand. “WOAH-O, we’re half way there,” Jack replied. We all walked together singing Bon Jovi.

Bitches love Bon Jovi.

All in all, this workshop really helped me a lot to know what I should and should not include in my resume. They gave me a number of sample resumes to base mine off of. It will be very useful as I get older.

My Semester at Baruch

I believe that these questions are great for me to answer:

“Now that your first semester at Baruch College is nearly complete, how was it? Reflect on the following four questions and craft a response of no more than 500 words. Feel free to integrate media into your post!
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
c. What would you do differently during your first semester if you could do it all again?
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?”
a. Well, I liked Baruch College–I did. I just don’t think I loved it. When I visited other schools, I realized what I was missing: a campus. It wasn’t very high on my list of what I wanted; but I didn’t realize what I would be missing. A campus is very much underrated.
b. I think my first semester went well. I made some friends, had some fun, and learned some things.
c. I would study more. Hypothetically, if I transfer, my GPA needs to be higher to get into a great school. But then again, it is a learning experience.
d. I have changed a lot since starting Baruch College. I have become better at volleyball, the way I dress is very different and I have become a person who moves a lot quicker in general. I talk faster, act faster, think faster, and want things to go faster. I have also learned how to manage my time a lot better.
How I feel now:

So I was in school one day and I heard that there was free snacks and apple juice in the multipurpose room. I love snacks and apple juice. I had to go. I did not know what the occasion was-nor did I care. I had to get there before anyone else.

So I get to the multipurpose room and I see that there was one obstacle in the way to get my snacks and apple juice: Blood Drive. I had never done one before but I knew I didn’t have to be smarter than a Fifth grader so I entered myself.

Before I knew it, they were taking all the blood out of my body. But like I said: I love snacks and apple juice. I hadn’t looked at the time in a while so I decided to glance at my phone and saw that class started 10 minutes ago.

Uh-oh! Oh wait. That’s right: I love snacks and apple juice.

I decided that once I was finished I would go to the table, take everything and then blow that place. That was my plan.

In order for the lady who was stealing my blood to let me out, I tried making small talk. She would not buy any of it. But I dont like anything more than a challenge.

I pushed the rest of the blood out of my body and got over to my prize. Snacks and Apple Juice.

I was getting ready to go but then they told me I had to sit and eat. Normally I would fight this; but I love snacks and apple juice. I sat and the lady who I talked to LOVED small talk. It was extremely pleasant.

Anyways, it was time to go and I told them I would be back. I went to class and right after class, I came back and took a whole box of oreos.

I might have stolen cookies from a Blood Drive–still fuzzy on the details. But I did give a whole lot of blood. You’re welcome random person. Cherish it.

This is roughly what I looked like:

Kids for now.

We are kids. Tall kids, short kids, fat kids, skinny kids, smart kids, stupid kids, kids who like to party, kids who like to take it easy, kids who fail, kids who pass, kids who sneeze, kids who cough, kids who eat a lot, kids who starve, kids who like to be kids. Why do we always want to be older? Let’s stay kids for as long as we can. Being a kid is fun. Being an adult is boring and dull. We are kids in college. We are kids experiencing the best years of our lives. Let’s stay young, man. Don’t fight being young. You’ll regret it later.

We get looked at closer in stores. We have class. We get tests. We can’t buy alcohol. We go out. We have fun. We make mistakes. So what? That’s the way it’s supposed to be. Living young, wild and free.

We have a whole world to fall back on, why worry about every step? Take two forward, but only one back. One back to start over a bit; but one forward to remember the mistake you made. Life is a learning experience. Remember that.

We are kids now, but not forever.

Who am I?

Who am I? That is a great question. I like to think I am just a boy. My ID says that I am 18, but my mind tells me I am 12. I make stupid jokes about stupid things, but they are funny. At least I think they are funny. Who else am I?

I am that person you grew up wanting to be.

I am that person who you took a double take of on the subway.

I am Mr. Right.

I am the definition of Possimpible.

I start fashion.

I am the greatest musician in the world.

I am an abstract artist.

I am a crazy good broker.

I am a world-class dentist.

I pay my bills on time.

I know how to pass calculus.

I have been told that I am the Mozart of my generation.

I have an IQ above yours.

I have been called more of a rebel than James Dean.

I was the inspiration for all of the Beatles’ songs.

I am that guy who jumps out of the gym.

I am the reason for everything right in the world.

I am the reason that you have to play a year of basketball in college before the NBA.

I am that guy who you walked in on your girlfriend with.

I am that guy your dad walked in on your mom with.

I am the reason YouTube exists.

I am almighty.

I am being modest.

I have not passed Baruch College though.

I think college will change me a lot. There is a group of people who I have heard too much about. They wear very tight clothes, a scarf, and usually big-framed glasses. They are the dreaded hipsters. Being in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, I am in hipster country. I really hope that I don’t become one. I have already started wearing tighter jeans and more upscale clothing. I hope that is all.

Any other ways college might change me? I hope it will change me to be more mature. I enjoy thinking—a lot. I hope that I will be in a position to think deeper. I also really enjoy writing. I hope to continue and become a better writer.

All in all, I’m really looking forward to my college career.
