voices IV

i really liked this, a lot better than voices III because, the day we saw voices III, i didnt know what was going on, and i got really confused and i didnt know why the ppl were talking like that, but now after taking FRO and writing our own monologues, i got a better picture of what was going on. some of the monologues in vices IV made me really sad, and there was one that made me laugh a lot, because it was kinda corny, and corny things are cute.

rubin museum

i thought this trip to the museum was kinda fun! we learned about the himalayans and buddhists and bodhisattvas. i felt englightened after the trip, kinda like how bodhisattvas feel englightened when they become buddhists. my favorite piece in the museum was the rug, that showed how evil red and how the good guys’ hands and feet were red because they were battling the evil guys and shows that they were powerful.

money savings

this event was kind of useless because it already said most of the things we know, becasuse its common sense and the speaker was funny sorta, but noone really laughed at his jokes. LOL. props to the speaker though, for standing up there and talking to us, even though it looked like everyone was dead and noone wanted to be there because it was mandatory.

What makes people happy? For some, it might be seeing something that makes them smile from ear to ear, or eating something yummy, satisfying their tummies. For me, there are lots of things that make me happy. A lot more things make me happy than sad or angry, which is why I seem like such an optimistic person.

One thing that makes me happy is being with my friends. Going on exciting adventures, hanging out and studying, and having heart to hearts late at night are some things that I like to do with them. Whenever I feel down, I can always count on them to say or do something funny to make me laugh and forget why I was feeling the way I was before. We always have something to laugh about, even if it happened months ago. I know I can always do my own thing around them because they won’t judge me and we joke around. I tell lame jokes and corny pickup lines, but that’s how I roll, like a ball! Even though sometimes we don’t get along and we argue and have our fights, we get over them, and that’s what makes us stronger. They really do make my day, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m always so happy sometimes, because my friends are just that awesome.

Another thing that makes me happy is swimming and being active, not just sitting at home watching tv. Swimming is a sport that requires both mental and physical strength. Same as any other sport, but what’s different from swimming and any other sport is that swimming requires you to compete individually as well as with the team, and you have to get into a pool, in order to compete. It also is a good activity to participate in, because it helps you keep fit and also makes you feel a lot better if you’re feeling not yourself. If I sit around my house all day, not doing anything I get tired and its boring, so why not go outside where the weather is nice and do something fun! Sometime after a big test, I feel like working out or going to swim, and when I do, I usually feel a lot better, like all the stress is gone!

light the night walk

the light the night walk on october 5th, was a fundraising walk for the leukemia and lymphoma society. it was a walk starting from south street seaport in manhattan, and ended across the brooklyn bridge, at borough hall. many people walked the walk, including students, elderly people, little kids, adults, supporters of the walk for leukemia and lymphoma, survivors of the disease, and the people that walked in memory of someone that died of cancer. it was a nice leisurely walk across the bridge, and it was just nice to know that you did something to help out people, even if it was only a walk across a bridge. it was also lovely weather, so that made the walk more enjoyable.

A Time to Serve

this article, “A Time to Serve” is basically about how a republic needs the cooperation of its citizens in order for it to survive and flourish. the article says that people seem to care less and less about our country. about only half of the citizens vote during elections and everybody has to pay taxes. our nation’s plan to change people’s minds about this isnt going to help much. people would rather do their own thing instead of doing something that their told to do, and in order for our government to work, there has to be a connection between the people and the government.

Who am I? I am a freshman at Baruch College. I am a swimmer that swims. I am a girl that likes to laugh and is kind of a ditz sometimes. I’m a nice and friendly person, and I dont bite, like a DIANASAUR. LOL. One of my concerns about my freshman year at Baruch is not being able to keep up with all the school work and everything. I’m definitely not the brightest crayon in the box, but I try to keep up with everything. Another concern I have is being lonely. :( I dont like being alone and I just dont like the feeling of being lonely and not having someone there, so I hope to meet lots of nice people! I think my study group, the 4.0 crew, is definitely something that will make my Baruch College experience different from my high school experience. Also, being in an environment with a lot more people than my high school is quite an experience, with all the diversity around me. My first year of college will definitely change me by making me a more organized person and person that wont be afraid of engaging in conversations once I venture out into the world after college.
