a. My experiences at Baruch College have been amazing. I’ve met so many great people and was very lucky to have some great professors. The professors overall were what I expected coming into college.

b. I definitely feel I could have done more during my first semester to have done better on tests, but I’m pretty satisfied with everything. I got to explore the campus and was able to find some great places to eat at because of a couple of professors.

c. If I’d have to do something differently, it would probably be trying to put more effort into studying for exams. Other than that, again I think my first semester went well and I hope to continue to do even better in the upcoming years.

d. Since I started at Baruch College, my writing’s definitely improved. I think academically, I’ve changed. I haven’t changed as a person though, I’m pretty much the same, just a little more stressed.

Monologue

I am an eighteen year old Peruvian and Italian female. I’ve lived my whole life in New York City, and I can’t possibly imagine living anywhere else at the moment. I am currently going to Baruch College which I am so happy to have gotten accepted into. I’m having a pretty good time, making new friends, getting used to the different school setting, workload, and professors. I love to play tennis and volleyball for fun. I am the youngest of three siblings. I used to have braces for 6 years straight and I am very glad not to have them anymore. I hate being a failure or a disappointment to the people I love most, and hope that nothing but success and happiness will result from my promising years at Baruch.

Walk Against Breast Cancer

I had fun on the day of the community service event. I got there early, and just followed the pink ribbon to some tents. I was one of the first people that got there early. It was a pretty chilly morning, more chilly than what I had expected. The walk was great since I saw so many people participate in it and have a lot of fun walking and cheering each other on. Overall, it was a great day.

My name is Elizabeth Mesias; I am a feisty Latina, and Italian. I’ve lived in Flushing, Queens my whole life, all 18 years, even though I was born on Staten Island. I also learned, to speak, read and write both Spanish and English by myself. I graduated from Francis Lewis High School in June 2011, and really wanted to get accepted into Baruch College.

One of my three concerns about my freshmen year at Baruch is the heavy workload, and trying to manage my time to get my work done on time. My second concern is getting good grades, of course, on exams and my classes. My third concern is trying to get a job, so that I can pitch in with my parents to pay for the next three years of study at Baruch.

My Baruch College experience will be different from my high school experience because I will try to join as many clubs as I possibly can, and just try to stay involved in the school. Definitely the costs of books in college are way different than in high school. I’ll just have to try to be smart in how I spend my money and look for great deals on books online.

My first year in college will change me because I will try to be more outgoing and optimistic about things, and I’ll learn to manage time for homework, projects, and studying. Definitely, an increase in responsibility will change me, since I can’t rely on my guidance counselors to help with issues, and spending my money wisely also goes hand in hand with responsibility. Overall, I hope that my college years will be the greatest years of my life and I look forward to the coming years.
