This semester at Baruch has been good. I enjoyed my classes and the professors. So I really didn’t have any trouble academically so far. Next semester is going to be a totally different experience since I’m going to be taking five classes. But I’m ready to be a full time student and catch up with my credits. This semester was a good experience.

I’m Erika Yzique I’m from Long Island, and I’m  a commuter. I’m starting  to hate commuting since it’s a long period of time on a train which is pretty boring. But also the fact that I have to wake up super early to make it to class on time. I wake up at 5 to get ready and catch the 5:55 train so I can make it on time to my 8:15 class. Commuting is really tiring but also it makes it seem like I spend more time in school then I did in high school which is not really true. I live in the suburbs which is very different city. Where I live is very quiet and the city is very noisy. Baruch and the high school would be the same diversity wise because my school was huge and it was very diverse just like Baruch is. My school district is one of the biggest school districts in Long Island, we also had a pretty big school which made of have a great amount of graduating seniors, but also a three hour graduating ceremony since they had to call everyone’s name to receive there diplomas and also guest speakers . I like the city and the suburbs because in the city you could really go anywhere cause of the subways but in the suburbs you really need to have a car to go out. But also everything is really far away.

Community service is a way to give back to your community. Community service can be a variety of things from helping out with programs at your public library to going to help out at a soup kitchen. But at the end community service is giving back to your community without expecting anything in return. I myself have done community service for my own purpose and for  school. I have done book buddies and art buddies at my public library to help entertain little kid, but for my school  I needed to do at least three hours worth of community service to be able to graduate.  I helped out at this small farm fair by handing out tickets and stamping people. Which was a lot of fun. Community service can be a way of feeling good about yourself because you either have helped someone in need or have helped make an event work out as planned. I can also say that doing community service is a good quality one can have because one is doing something without expecting anything in return. Doing community service is very important for everyone to do because one should always want to give back to their community even if it’s just doing something little. Giving back is always a good thing.

Who am I? I ‘m the type of person that likes to get everything right, from homework, tests to arguements. I’m also the type of person that hates to dissapoint someone especially my parents . I try to please my parents by always trying my best and by proceed in my education. I have many goals that I know I will achieve. I will achieve these goals by working hard and always having my mind set on achieving them. I’m also the type of person that likes to feel proud of my hard work but most importantly I like making others proud of me. I know that hard work always pays off.My three concerns that I have as a freshman in college is how I would get use to the responsibility that college puts on you. From getting your work done on time to actually showing up to class. One has to mature when they are in college and take on the responsibilities. Another concern that I have is how a professor grades. As a student one wants to get the highest grade as possible but it all depends on how the professor grades abd also how hard you worked. My last concern is becoming more involve and making new friends that will can help me out. I intend on becoming more involve by joining clubs.
What can make my college experience different from high school is the responsibility you have. You are basically on your own in college, but in high school you always have teachers helping you out and looking out for your best interest. Also in high school you are comfortavle with your group of friends that you’ve known for years and in college you have to start new, and make new friends.I know that college is not going to be easy like high school. That’s why I’m determine to always try my best so I can get good grades. High school also wasn’t a choice you had to go but college is a choice, which is to get more education and a degree to get a well paying job in the future. How will yoyr first year in college change? My first year in college will change because I will get use to the responsibilty and the work that they give you in college. I will get into a day to day routine with homework, clubs, and classes.

Last Thursday my Freshman seminar class took a quick trip to Baruch’s library. There we learn a great amount of information. From how to take out books, to getting study rooms. I found this information to be very useful for the future. I know that I will definitely be using the library.
