#10 most boring school in the world. PROVEN.

Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived (or not
lived) up to your expectations. Has it exceeded your expectations? How well do you think your first semester went?

My expectations of Baruch College were completely met 100%. I knew coming to this college that its on the most boring colleges in the world, but I made a conscious choice to place a weight on future success rather than current fun. I would like to say that im sticking to it, but to me honest, I’m not even sure. After talking to people who have been the the college program and those who didn’t, Im seriously considering to not continue my education here. It seems to be that a good education is not worth as it used to be in the real world. Im really not the type to enjoy meaningless unmotivated learning, it really just stresses me out. I’d much rather be out there networking and making money that way. You only live one life, and your only young once, I don’t see any reason to waste it. I feel as if you meet enough people, your opportunities of finding work , and work that interest you is a lot easier. This realization came to me, when a NYU graduate messaged ME for a bartending position, why waste your youth, hard work and effort if its not guranteed to get you anywhere. Im not the education type, I could not ever in a million years see my self going to school passed 22, and in this society you need graduate school to get anywhere. I’d much rather live a stress free life now making a little less money over my lifespan than go through 6 hard years during the prime of my life.

Monologue – Josh T.

Joshua Tab Freshman Seminar: Monologue

When I was nine years old, I made my first business deal. My mom was never a genius when it came to technology, so when she had something to do online, she would always turn right to me, her youngest son. My road to entrepreneurship all began with this fur coat. It was among a pile of unwanted belongings my mother kept in our attic. She asked me to sell it online. Naturally, I hadn’t a clue what she was talking about. I remember asking, “Online to where?” She responded “eBay.” So I went on Google, searched “eBay,” clicked on the website and clicked “sell.” An hour later, there was a bidding war going on for an old coat stuffed behind boxes in my attic. As I grew older, my “businesses” became more and more proficient. I was continuously striving to find ways to expand. By the age of thirteen, I realized it’s not what you know; it’s who you know. So I started talking to everybody, even people I didn’t know. I started a MySpace page, a YouTube account and a FaceBook group where I would advertise my cousin’s new clothing business. For every t-shirt bought online from his website using my “code,” I would get a commission. The five hundred dollars I made during the first week of having the MySpace page led me to believe I was very persuasive, even when convincing total strangers to buy clothes. So I started to wonder how well I would do in convincing people I did know. A week or so later, nearly all of my friends were wearing a new shirt, sweater or pair of jeans. My business only ended when my cousin ran out clothes.

Blog #1: Who Do You Think You Are? – Josh T.

Im really not that great at free-writing, but ill give it a shot. My name is Josh, most people call me Jay (except for my mom). I grew up in New Hyde Park, Long Island. When people think of me, they usually think of clubs. Its not necessarily the the type of recognition I like to get, but it is the type of recognition I usually do. If you were to see my year book, you’ll see a bunch of my friends ending their paragraphs with “P.S JAY TABZ AT THE DOOR”. It kinda just happened. Ever since i was 16 I’ve been working with this company called “Flood the Club” in Long Island. I started as a promoter, just getting my friends to go and getting paid for it, and rose up to being major influence in the event planning. Recently, I even had to sign a contract for a new club we are opening up in Queens.
Besides, for that I would say I’m a pretty much normal guy. I just moved to the city and im finding it hard to adapt not being able to drive, anywhere! Trains and walking is just not my thing. I came to Baruch strictly for education, I know its not that fun of a place, but I’m gonna try to make the best of it and take advantage of living in the city. I hope to network as much as possible and earn a degree in marketing that will really lead me somewhere.
My top 3 concerns about freshman year, is adapting from my senior year lifestyle, making time to work, and still being able to go the gym as frequently as I did last year. I really didnt do… anything. I’m trying to adjust to actually having to study and do all this extra work… adderall <3. Dont worry I’m prescribed. So far I find myself, being able to balance out making money and also making time to study. As far as going to the gym, I’m kind of disappointed in myself. Im beginning to feel like all my hard work going to the gym last year may be going to waste!
