Blog post #3 – Kasper

My first semester at Baruch has been good so far. I have met alot of new people and have done well in my classes. The work load was as expected. I had to do a lot of reading for my anthropology class but I did learn alot. As for math class, I learned the material rather easily. Thats probably because I was always good at math. It took a couple of weeks to get used to the schedule but once I got used to it, it became easy.
If I could do this semester all over again, I would not want to change that much. I might spend some more time on my essays or spend some more time studying. But I think that things went pretty well this semester.
I think that I have changed for the better. I incorperate the things I learn in my classes in my everyday life. I think that I have become more responcible. But most importaintly, I have become comfortable going to school, meeting new people and learning new things.

Study Tips – Kasper

I found a couple of suggestions from the student planner. The first section I found helpful was the multiple choice. I already knew some of the tips but found a couple of them very interesting. Not that I plan on needing to guess, but its good to know a couple of tips just in case.

The second section that I found helpful was the time management section. You have alot more freedom in college and that also requires more responcibility. And time management is a major responcibility. So far, it has not been challening but i am sure it will become harder.

A Time to Serve – Kasper

Community service is important in every community.  Community service helps build the foundation for a strong community.  Community service brings people together.  It helps make the community a better place.  But most importantly of all, is shows that you care about your community and others.

Leadership is very important when it comes to community service.  Without leadership, it is hard to get people together to engage in community service.  And without leadership, you would not be able to organize large projects that really affect the community.

In my opinion, the best way to boost volunteerism and civic participation is to inform people that there are volunteering opportunities.  The biggest reason people do not participate in community service is because that do not know about them.  By increasing awareness, you can greatly increase the number of community service participants.

Kasper Kowalczyk – Blog Post #1

Hi, I am Kasper.  I am intelligent.  I work hard and do what I need to to accomplish my goal.  When I have an assignment to do, I usually try to do it all at once, instead of splitting it up.  And when I start something, I usually try to finish it.  However, I usually procrastinate till the last minute.  As for my top three concerns, my top one is the workload.  From what I hear, college requires a lot more work than high school.  I think that I will be able to handle it but I have not yet experience the full workload of college.  Another concern of mine is meeting new people.  All of my friends from high school go to different schools, so I will need to meet and make new friends at Baruch.  My third and final concern is staying at Baruch.  I am not sure what the requirements are to become a full time student.  College will definitely be different from high school.  For starters, we choose our own classes, and they are not right after each other.  Also, if you need help, you need to go to the professor, he/she won’t come to you.  As for homework, in high school, I did most of my work in school.  However in college, you will need to do the work on your own time.  I think that attending Baruch will change me for the better.  It will force me to become more responsible.  I will need to manage my time better, and make sure that I have my work finished on time.  I will be accountable for the work I do, and the work that I don’t.
