My experience at Baruch so far has been great. I have met new people and experienced many new and exciting things. I have gotten used to the travel in the mornings so that isn’t an issue for me anymore. I like Baruch, I’m glad that I was accepted here because if i was anywhere else I know i would not enjoy it as much. During my time at Baruch I haven’t really changed but I’m adapting to the changes around me and the new environment . I’m looking forward to the next semester. I think I’m ready to juggle more classed during the week, and seeing that i like the school so far I’m going to try and make the best of it.

My name is Malique and I go to Baruch College. I love football more than anything in the world, that’s all I ever think about half of the time. Even though I over analyze and stress sometimes, in the end I make sure I do whatever it takes to prevail in the end. I view myself as a very strong willed person that makes sure he handles business all the time. For the most part I think when it comes to being in groups I usually lead just in the fact that I don’t like authority at all. My mother is the most important person in my life because she played both roles of the parents and I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. The one and only thing I’m afraid of is failure, when I fail at something I feel as if I’m a weak person. The second thing that I love the most is Food, that’s all I do is eat and work out when I have free time. School has been good so far, made new friends, learned new things and just experienced a whole new environment. A motto that I have went by for years is , “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, in my point of view if you’re dealing with obstacles and they aren’t defeating you, you can learn from your experience to become stronger from there. Life is good right now, everything in my life is finally coming together after dealing with so much on my journey to college.

I like doing community service because I like the feeling of helping someone with a job or anything that they need help with. Im in a program in my neighboorhood call the Frat Boyz of Rochdale and we do community service all the time. we do things such as handing out flyers, unloading trucks, and also shoveling snow. Last night I had to hand out flyers to each door in my building, I wasn’t really in the mood but i know if i needed help my mentor would help me out. Another experience I had doing community service is when i was shoveling peoples drive ways and parking spots in my neighborhood, for three days i was going out and assisting people with shoveling out areas in which they needed to be shoveled out. I like community service because it gives me a chance to help out everyone in my community and give back. Sometimes the community service that you do may not be the most fun or entertaining but in the end of everything you are doing something good. I don’t always feel like handing out flyers or unloading boxes because it gets tiring after awhile but I always work through it and handle business.

I think that I’m a Very focused and goal oriented person. When ever something is needed to get done i make sure it is done no matter what. I also think that I’m a determined and strong willed person and i believe those characteristics will help me in my near future with school, jobs or any form of work. My top three concerns at Baruch is making sure i can keep up with all of the work that is given to me and another concern i have is paying for my books for my future subjects.Paying for my books is a concern because if i were not able to pay for the books then i would begin to fall back in class because i don’t have the required books. One last concern I have at Baruch is choosing my major, right now I am not sure what I want to major in and the time is coming up where i need to figure out what I want to major in in the close future.Choosing my major is also i big concern because I don’t want to feel as if I’m not keeping up with everything and also I want to make sure that i get experience in any field of study. So far the experience at Baruch is extremely different than high school, the way people converse with you is different and also the amount of freedom that I have as well. Another way the Baruch experience will be different from high school is the Professor’s and how they teach you rather then in high school when you have teachers that hold your hand in everything that you do. Walking to a Different buildings to get to class will also be a different experience then high school. Another experience that will be different that high school is the location in which i have never really been to. I attended school in the city before but not in this particular location. I think my first year at college will make me a more focused at mature person in general. I also think that my first year in college will open my eyes to many things that I haven’t realized in the past. College will also make me more independent seeing that i have to do a lot for myself to handle business. College will stop me from depending on people for the things i need or want and make me stronger mentally.

The tour of the library was really helpful, it informed me of the many tools and supplies that i could get from there. I like how i could rent a laptop from there because i know that  will need it in the close future. I overall liked the tour of the library
