The Voices
The Voices was very interesting. Some were sad, some provoked anger, while some were hilarious. Whether they are sad or happy, everyone has their own stories. In my opinion, it was a good experience because I got to listen to the stories of other Baruch students. The two-hour performance was well worth it

Class Scheduling
Through the workshop, I learned clearly about which classes to register for. Before the workshop, I was confused and had no clue for which classes to take. The speaker helped me get on the right track by providing information on the required courses for my intended major. I also thought it was a very interactive environment, where the speaker addressed individual questions and problems instead of making it a lecture-like “speech”. In conclusion, it was a very helpful workshop and I hope there are more workshops in the future, designed to provide necessary information for clueless students.

Major and Minor Fair
I was disappointed when I heard that I had to go to the Money Workshop instead of the Major/Minor Fair (which I wanted to go to learn more about my intended major). However when I was given the choice of choosing which one to go, I was excited… until I actually went to the fair. After a longggggggg line I finally went inside with a handout, which happened to be the most informative thing I’ve gotten from the fair. The fair was not something I expected. After finding the Accounting table in the corner, I was disappointed to find just three sign-up sheets and pens…
But it wasn’t that bad. At least I didn’t have to sit through it for two whole hours and I actually got to eat lunch.

Hello! I am Mingoo Kang!
Hello, my name is Mingoo Kang. I’m just an ordinary Korean guy and I’m trying to break through my old lazy habits. By the end of the semester, I seek to be a more responsible and mature person.
The first of the three concerns about my freshman year at Baruch College is keeping my GPA up. I’ve experienced the difficulty of trying to get my GPA up during the last two years in my high school and this time I will try to do it right from the start. In relation to my first concern, the second thing I’m concerned about is that I have to teach myself mostly. I was used to the “spoonfeeding” from high school where I didn’t really have to study at home to keep up in class. But now, I have to get used to actually study after school. While not directly related to my college experience, the third concern I have is about commuting. It takes an hour minium to get to school and I can’t really ignore the transportation fares.
So far, having to commute and having to teach myself will be the biggest transition from my high school experience to that of Baruch’s. I also really enjoy the freedom I haven’t had much of in high school such as using cell phone or leaving the building freely.
My first year at college will teach me how to manage time efficiently. It will also teach how to be more responsible mainly through having to teach myself and working to pay for my own expenses.
