Monologue
What am I afraid of ? That’s probably one of the most difficult questions of my life. I’m afraid of so many things but the most important would be failing myself.
My happiest moments are when I’m sharing something with my friends and family.
The most important thing in my life is obviously me. Except that my mother is the most important to me.
Baruch experience has been somewhat ok but not that great. Maybe cause I’m not involved too much. Don’t know a lot of students.
I went to play soccer. When the ball came to my direction to tried to kick the ball but missed. I was so embarrassed.
I have worked hard in the store that I work. So, when the manager praised me and put me in charge of the night shift I felt empowered. I thought I had the potential to be a leader.
My motto is that life is like a toothpaste. When you squeeze the paste out you cannot put that in. So, we should not dwell on the past.
I really enjoyed the weekend. Although it would have been better if I did not have a lot of homework. My biggest challenge in school and participation in class. I need to participate more.I’m enjoying my college. I’m learning about new materials, doing creative assignments.

New Life
Hi, i’m Mir. I am from Bangladesh. I have been living in New York for one and half year as an immigrant. I have completed high school from my country. Baruch College is my first educational institution in USA. So, I am tying cope with the new environment. Living here feels like a whole new life. I have so much to learn about this society. Also the city is pretty hectic. I am tying to get used to it.
My concerns about the freshman year are language, friend, test . English is my second language. Obviously I’m not fluent. Also I did not attend high school or any kind of institute to learn the language in USA. I’m relying on my previous experience to communicate with others. Still trying to improve it. I am concerned that I may struggle with tests because it is different from my country. I really miss my friends from my country. But I look forward to making new friends. Most of the students here are really nice and friendly.
College experience will certainly be different from high school. In high school it was teacher’s duty to prepare us but in college I have to prepare myself and do a lot of study of my own.
My first year experience in college will help me to became familiarize with this new environment. Also I am hoping I will be more assertive and be involved with college life. Most importantly, I want to make lots of friends and have a lot of fun while learning all new things.
