3rd workshop
I was late to register for the writing resume workshop. But I still went to learn about it. It took place in Baruch College. The instructors handed out a booklet about resumes. It talked about different types of resumes. Since I never wrote a resume before, this information was very helpful. They had different examples of resumes that were also helpful to me. I never knew there was so much information needed in a resume. The instructor also said that having a professional email is important because the employer will not take you seriously. For example, [email protected] is definitely not a professional email. The words section in the resume booklet was the most interesting thing that attracted me. “There were words that we could use in our resume depending on our experiences, and our majors. We use the word “help” a lot. Instead of that, we could use aid, facilitate, provide, and support. It sounds more interesting that way.” This quote made me realize that I use help word a lot instead of other words. This workshop was very helpful and interesting.

community service
I went to the Breast cancer walk event. It took place in Central Park on Sunday November 16th. There were so many people participating in this event. It showed how much people care and support the people with the breast cancer. Many people were wearing pink to show their participation. It seemed so beautiful how so many people walking in pink. I was glad that I have attended this event because it made me see and care for the issues in society. I never cared about the community services before. I never cared to attend one. I learned that it is important to show the community that there are people who care about certain issues. Now, I see myself staying involved in the community during my college and adult years. It was a great experience and I loved it.

Now it is almost the end of my first term in college. In the beginning everything was new to me and I had to get used to them. Everything was fine except the classes. I made new friends and experienced new things. But the classes I had some difficulties with the classes I took. They weren’t that easy as I thought.
What I would do differently during my first semester if I could do it all again is the lateness. I was always late to my classes. That caused me to miss some important things in classes. I also did all my work at the last moment. I would like to do that differently too. I didn’t get satisfied grades on any of my work that I did at the last moment.
The one thing that changed me is that I worked hard. To be honest I never worked hard in any of my classes in high school. I was fine without working hard. But it was different for college. I actually had to study for my tests. It all showed whether I studied or not on my test grade.
I am actually satisfied with my first term in college. I am looking forward to my next term in Baruch. I want to experience more new things and excited about it. Even though the classes might be hard I am ready to face them.

I believe life is a choice. Life can be different depending on what choices I make. I may make a wrong choices but I will not regret it. It is just another experience to take me one step closer to being an adult.
In everyday life, I make choices. In the morning, I chose to eat breakfast, which caused me to be late for the morning class. If I had chosen not to eat, I might have not been late to that class. During the lunch time, I made a choice to buy the salad instead of sushi. It tasted horrible. I couldn’t even finish the half of it. If I had chosen to buy the sushi instead, I might have eaten it all and be full. I don’t regret buying the salad though, because now I know that the salad taste horrible and I won’t ever buy it again.
I was hesitating about which school I should go between the Baruch College and Stony Brook University. Now this is a big choice because my life depends on it. I chose to come to Baruch College. I think I made the right choice. I enjoy being a Baruch student. I like my new friends I made here and the school. But who knows what could have happened if I chose to go to the Stony Brook University? It could have been better or worse.
I have made choices for my whole life. I am still making it. Tomorrow, I could make a choice that will bring me a big change. I just have to make sure that I am making the right choices.

who do you think you are?
My name is Min Kyung Seong. I was born in Korea on December 9th 1992. I have no definite answer for the question, “Who do you think you are?”. My answers will vary as time goes by. My current answer to this question is different from my past answer. It will be also different in the future because of the concerns I have now.
In the past I was asked to answer the same question. Back then, this question was not difficult. I answered it very simply. I was an elementary kid with a bright personality. I was a good friend and a good daughter. When I was in elementary, I had no major experiences in my life. I was just a normal kid who likes to have fun. Now, I am a college student who had many experiences in life. I had happy moments and sad moments. I believe those experiences makes me who I am now. For example, if I had not attended Baruch College, I might have gone to Albany University. Then, I might have different experiences that could change me from who I am now.
I was excited about going to Baruch College, but at the same time, I was also worried. I was separated from my friends because we are all attending different colleges. I had to start all over again starting with making new friends. I always had difficulties with making new friends. But I think I’m doing fine now but, not satisfied. My second concern is the grades. The college work is harder than I thought. I have a feeling that I cannot be the same person as I was in high school if I want to do well in college. I was not a dedicated student in high school which laid me in the middle. I wasn’t a smart student but I also wasn’t a stupid one. I have to work hard in order to raise my grades. The third concern is the lateness. I am a very lazy person. When I first got my schedule, I was so worried about the morning classes. I tried my best to be on time but it is not working out. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop trying.
So far, I think I am enjoying my first year of college. Everything is new and I am excited about the changes it will bring me. I just wish this excitement lasts for long.
