Voices!!

It was really interesting to hear the actors read the monologues that the students wrote this semester. It was really amazing how they read the monologues with passion and emotion. Some were funny and some were really sad. The ones that still last in my memory is the one where this actress read the one where we can hear the inner thoughts of a basketball player, chicken nugget, and the girl being bullied where her boyfriend was told by another bully to hit her on the face, and the one where the actor read “Baruch, Baruch, Baruch is on Fire!!!!!” Maybe that is the reason why the fire alarm goes off soo much in the vertical campus building!

What classes to choose next semester???

Some people are signing up for their spring classes tomorrow, and everyone else needs to sign up by the end of this month and it is a very stressful procedure. The main reason I was worried about this was because I had no clue to which classes to chose. However, after listening to the advisor today I had a better idea of choosing my classes. I thought it was a really helpful workshop to attend to.

Major/Minor Fair

After meeting up in our normal  seminar class I made my way through the large crowd on the second floor celebrating halloween and the breast cancer month to attend the major/minor fair. There was a huge line leading into the multi-purpose room. When I went in someone handed me a piece of paper with the majors and minors. Each of the tables had a sign saying accounting, finance, theatre….. I signed in for most of the majors and minors that I was interested in. I thought it was a great opportunity to see the different majors and minors. While I was leaving I handed in a survey of the fair and I left.

Don’t ever give up!!

One of the challenges in my life that changed me was the first time I tried to play golf. At first, I thought golf was for old people who spent their time playing in the grassy fields. The first time I tried playing golf, I had confidence that I could hit the ball and that it would be up in the air to at least my height. I thought this because other people were hitting the ball much higher than their height. However, I was disappointed at the fact that when I hit the ball it only rolled a few feet and I told myself that I would never play golf from that day forward. However, my dad convinced me to give golf one final try. He taught me the basics of golf and instructed me during my practice to gradually build up my skill. Now I enjoy playing golf and I found out that it is not the sports that I first envisioned as. Now I look back even until today and regret saying that I would never play golf again because now I enjoy playing golf. This challenge has taught me to always give a chance to everything new so that I won’t have to regret.

This is who I am!! Sarah Kim

Hello, I am a Korean American girl and I always try to finish all my assignments/projects way before the due date because I learned a very important lesson when I was in elementary school. Back then, I used to procrastinate like most of my friends and put all of my work to the side and always played first. But, one day when I had a big research project to type up about 10 pages, my whole family were going to eat dinner out at a family party, I was so sad and also angry at myself for procrastinating. So, after this incident I always try to do my work ahead of time. As you can see I am writing this today.

The top three concerns I have regarding my freshman year at Baruch College is first, I would not be able to keep my GPA high, because I heard it is hard to pull up the grades later on. Second, I do not know how to sign up for my classes, especially because I would not be in a block anymore. Third, I would like to find a better way to buy textbooks next semester because the books are so expensive.

So far, I think that College is really different from my high school because the students can first, use cell phones, laptop, and other electronics in  college without trying to hide from anyone such as the deans who would confiscate them.  Secondly, after we finish taking the test students can leave the classroom. Thirdly, students can leave the building when they want without worrying about being suspended.

My first year in College will make me learn two important things. First, to teach myself, because some professors do not teach everything they should, so in order to take the test, I need to teach some stuff on my own. Second, I will have learned how to manage my time with studying with the long time traveling to school.
