Friends are always there for you in times of need. Oprah’s quote (“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher. Life is already filled with those who want to bring you down”) is especially important because we are all surrounded by millions of people who we call friends, but only the true friends are the ones who will help us succeed. That is why the concept of “networking” comes into play because we network and find people that help us succeed. It can be our colleagues, classmates, or any person at random who we can call our true friends. Our goal is to find those people as keep networking.
Friendships are key to living a good life. Friends help you in bad times, and are there for you whenever you need help. They can also help with other aspects of life. A good friend of mine, for example, helped me get a job that I liked. Friends can help you enjoy your time, help you de-stress, and just have fun in general. I have gone to my friends and just forgot about all the stress in my life. Even for a little, it is worth it and have a good time. Although friendships are great, they can be broken. Within seconds, as mentioned, friendships can go south. Referring to the previous quotes section, forgiveness should occur to continue on with the good times.
Good friendships are key to happy living. Quotes like these remind me why fostering true, organic relationships is so important. Whether it is at school, at home, at work, friendships contribute greatly to one’s overall satisfaction about anything at anytime. Coming to Baruch, I’m glad I found such diverse and awesome people who I can learn everyday from, share goals and dreams with, and just spend time with no matter my mood.
The quote “Friendship is like a book. It takes years to write but it only takes a few seconds to burn” is especially appealing to me because I believe very much in the power of a reputation and not ruining who you are and what you stand for, ever. In a split second you can easily make a stupid decision that will ruin the way people know you and what they think of you which is supremely important.
“Friends are like stars… you don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there.”
This quote is something that I probably always tell my friends. I tell them that even if I can’t be by their side at this moment I will always be by your side, my presence is always around you. For me I always know that even if I make mistakes my close friends will scold me but will always be by my side to pick me up and I’m the same for them.
I am informing you that one of the quotes you are using belongs to me.
“I Believe that Friends are Quiet Angels that lift us to our Feet when our Wings have Trouble remembering how to Fly”…
I am not unknown, I am not Anonymous. I am here and I am alive.

Author of the number one requested quote
Written Monday, October 23, 2000.
Note: It behooves me how you and others would infringe on work that you know you didn’t write. This is the greatest injury that an Artist can ever incur.
On Monday morning, October 23, 2000. I received an email from a friend.
It was those adorable baby pictures by the photographer – Anne Geddes.
And my twins were still very young and I had needed and had been greatly supported in every way by my friends and my family.
I was extremely grateful and thankful that morning… so in honor of my love for my special friends, Valerie, Rhonda, and Marilyn, I wrote:
“I Believe Friends are Quiet Angels who lift us to our Feet when our Wings have Trouble Remembering how to Fly.”
And signed the quote Lorraine K Mitchell with the date and sent the emails to the three of them.
Within the next few days every email I received from any and everyone had my quote attached to it, which shocked me to the utmost.
A webmaster had captured God’s Quote and had begun attaching it to everything he sent out. He refused to reply to me concerning its use.
I called an attorney and she said the internet laws were vague. (This was 2000)
Valerie, one of the women I had honored,
said that I should be honored that so many found my words so beautiful and encouraging. Yet, I wept and grieved.
(I recognized the strength and value of the words God had given me that morning. And I felt as though I had lost my child to the world. My heart weeps for my quote daily because the world refers to me as unknown and Anonymous, But I am here. I am alive. And I desire for my words to know their mother. I am an artist.)
But, the very next year was nine-eleven… and God’s quote took on a new life of its own. It was again posted everywhere, even in a half page article in a major publication
accompanying a beautiful picture of a fireman with a nine-eleven victim. The image of an Angel stood just above them. The photographer received credit, but I was listed as anonymous.
No one knows the magnitude of how I felt knowing the comfort God’s Quote gave to America after having lost so much because of nine-eleven.
I’ve been told over the years that I have the gift of the written word, although I couldn’t believe it. I shied away from the compliments.
On the other hand my child, my quote has confirmed the power of my gift over and over for the last 16 years.
However, My child, my quote has been infringed upon and is being sold all over the internet in various forms, plagues, wall hangings, and on ugly t-shirts. Associations, fund raisers, school teachers, bloggers have used the quote for their website titles, and two people (so far) have claimed the quote as their own.
God’s quote is listed as the number one used quote on one website and as number 15 on another as the most requested and used.
And God’s quote has been used in the introductions and acknowledgements of over 26 books/text written since 2002.
Although, there is an author that I found that readily admitted the quote was forwarded to him in an email by his friend and he gave praise to the strength of God’s quote by the anonymous author. But, at least he acknowledged what he knew of my quote’s lineage. There is a song writing team that admitted on their website they also received God’s quote attached to an email and then composed a song using the exact quote.
This Friday, I wept uncontrollably seeing it yet again flashed in my face. I am claiming my child, my quote and bringing her home.
When the hundreds of websites appeared before me I felt God’s hand on my shoulder. He was showing me the great comfort that the words have given so many. But it is time to stop being shy about the gifts he has bestowed upon me and inform the world of its birth.
