1) “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”
-Calvin Coolidge
2)“If you’re constantly pushing yourself higher, higher, the law of averages – not to mention the myth of Icarus – predicts that you will at some point fall. And when you do, I want you to know this, remember this: There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction.”
-Oprah Winfrey addressed the Harvard Graduating Class of 2013:
3) “Failure is success if we learn from it.”
-Malcolm Forbes
4) “I don’t divide the world into the weak and the strong, or the successes and the failures, those who make it or those who don’t. I don’t even divide the world into the extroverted and the introverted, or those who hear the inner voice or the outer voice, because we all hear some of both.
I divide the world into learners and non-learners.
There are people who learn, who are open to what happens around them, who listen, who hear the lessons. When they do something stupid, they don’t do it again. When they do something that works a little bit, they do it even better and harder the next time.
The question to ask is not whether you are a success or a failure, but whether you are a learner or a non-learner.”
-Benjamin Barber (political scientist at Rutgers University)

14) “What troubles you is mostly trivial when viewed from the great perspective of all that is. Yet those troubles can feel much bigger when you look at them from the viewpoint of your self-imposed limitations.
Your ego will seek to convince you that nothing beyond you matters. Such thinking will keep you trapped in a prison of your own making.
Let go of the need to prove what you’re worth. And you’ll realize how uniquely valuable you already and always are.
As long as you remain on the same level as the obstacles in your life, those obstacles will prevent you from making progress. Yet from a higher perspective you’ll discover many ways to get beyond them.
If you’re confounded by some particular situation, step back and remind yourself, in your own way, of how truly beautiful and magnificent life can be. Feel yourself rising above the limitations that your ego has constructed.
Instead of being troubled by your troubles, let them be a catalyst for your own growth and for truly meaningful inspiration. Climb up to a higher perspective and find a path to the greatness that is within you.”

-Josh Billings
29) “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. You are the author of your own life.

Your energy field changes constantly , based on your thoughts and feelings , and the universe acts like a mirror , sending back a reflection of the energy that you are projecting. The stronger and more intense your thoughts and emotions are , the greater the magnetic pull becomes. Now , this is not a process that requires any real effort ; a magnet doesn’t ”try” to attract anything-it simple does , and so do you !You are always in the process of attracting something into your life.”

39) “Here is a very powerful insight: see EVERYTHING that happens in your life as being for your best interest.
Consider this: Anything that annoys you is “for” teaching you patience. Anyone who abandons you is “for” teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet. Anything that angers you is “for” teaching you forgiveness and compassion. Anything that has power over you is “for” teaching you how to take your power back. Anything you hate is “for” teaching you unconditional love. Anything you fear is “for” teaching you courage to overcome your fear. Anything you can’t control is “for” teaching you how to let go and trust the Universe.”

41) “The thing about life is that you must survive. Life is going to be difficult, and dreadful things will happen. What YOU do is MOVE along, get on with it, and be tough. Not in the sense of being mean to others, but being tough with yourself and making a deadly effort not to be defeated!”

42) “Adversity provides the resistance necessary to develop the strength to overcome great obstacles. This strength consists of self-confidence, perseverance, and, very importantly, self-knowledge. For if you do encounter a setback, it is a clue to a personal weakness. You may have been hasty in judging a competitor, or you may have been too timid in your vision of what needed to be done. Let adversity be your guide to understanding where you mis-stepped and which qualities you need to cultivate. I gave up wanting other peoples approval, permission or understanding &
I gave up my incessant need to explain or justify who I am, what I’m doing & where I am at.
I NOW ALLOW … for things to be easy, to go with the flow of life, to think well of myself and others, to only repeat beliefs that give each of us freedom to be who we choose to be, to hold attitudes that serve my expansion, to relax more, to trust my feelings to guide me, to be true to myself, to have faith that everything that occurs is leading me home, to a grander version of love and for the highest good of all.

To be successful, especially in a corporate environment, we must start out small. We experience failures in order to make ourselves a better person the next day. I personally like the quote “Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” as quoted by Muhammad Ali because it inspires me to become a risk taker by taking on challenges along my path to success. Through these challenges, I experience failures that taught me very important lessons. As a result, these lessons turn into skills, which I utilize to make me a better person. We are all champions if we overcome our failures and become stronger by facing them head on.
Don’t let anyone ever tell you you can’t do anything. “You can do anything you want, if you put your mind to it,” as Mr. Munez mentioned in the class presentation that he was in. The key is to overcome what people tell you and get past that “wall.” Do no worry about what people think, since most will try to belittle you so that they can feel better or do better. Once you get past that “wall,” you will be able to succeed.
The quote ” Failure is success if we learn from it” by Malcolm Forbes is very similar to the message that Ricky Cohen wanted to share to the class. Even though one may not necessarily realize it a person’s own failures can lead to their greatest success’s. This is what Rick Cohen wished upon the whole class in a giant public failure as soon as possible
