Who Do You Think You Are?
My mind sparks when someone asks me, “Who are you?” The conjuring image of myself pops up in my head. I am Kevin. Some people refer me as “Kevin Lee xD”. Yes, you heard right. How did I get that “xD”? It is a long story that takes place back at my second year in high school, Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, which is located in Bayside. I am currently a freshman in Bernard Baruch College. Aside from education history, I am a 6’0 Asian who enjoys many aspect of life. I like eating and I wont lie about it. I love hanging out with my friends. In general, I cannot judge my own character, it has to be the audience and how they characterize me by their point of view.
My top three concerns as a freshman are: time management, test preparations, and complex reading comprehension. First of all, time management is important because I am new to college and I want to end my first semester on a good note. I want to see how much time I will have before I make necessary adjustments. Secondly, I have not taken any tests yet and do not know what they will be like. Lastly, reading comprehension may sound silly, but I mean it as in philosophy. The books that I have to read is very complex and formatted in a way where it is hard to remember what I read, thus I forget. These are my concerns for my freshman year.
Baruch College is different in a way compared to high schools, therefore, it will be hard to compare these two. College is a place where it is the students who are in control of their classes, who they meet and what they do. It is not like high school, where it is mandatory and more structured. For example, you can decide if you want to add in breaks for college; while in high school, you have to attend all of your classes right after they finish. There is not much difference in my opinion, but you would feel more “freedom” in college.
The first year in college will not change me. There is not much things to say about this because I cannot be certain to what might change me.

Who Do You Think You Are?
Hello all,
My name is Josh Namdar. This is my first year in college. I look forward to my remaining years in Baruch College. I think Baruch is the best place for me to grow as an individual and to learn to my best ability. Let me share with you a few concerns of my freshman year here at Baruch College. One of my concerns would be my ability to make my transition from High School to College soothly. Going to college after 4 years of high school is a big step and it has always been something I thought would be hard to deal with since there is a big difference in the amount of workload and time you receive in high school. A second concern I have is maintaining a good enough GPA to make it into the Zicklin School of Business. The business school here at Baruch is one of the major reasons I chose this school and a deep concern is being able to make it into Zicklin. My third concern is whether or not i’ll be able to handle the workload throughout my 4 years here. It is important for me to learn how to manage my time and complete all my work on time. If I can master that, it would make my time here at Baruch much easier. So far, one thing that makes my college experience different from my high school experience is the diverse culture in my surroundings. Being in a multi-cultural student body is a big advantage to have as a student. Becoming friends with differently culture people teaches you a lot about the world we live in and will always be good for you in the future. I think my first at college will change me in the sense that I will learn to be more responsible as a person and I will learn how to manage my time and work. It will allow me to get a better idea of how to balance personal life issues and school issues.

Who do you think you are?
My name is Liz Huggins. I was both born and raised on the south shore of long island in a town called lindenhurst. I would say that I am a determined and serious student while also being loud and wild. I can say right off the back that at some point in our college years, you will hear or see me singing to some song thats stuck in my head, and wish I had never opened my mouth. I genuinely wish I had the ability to sing, but instead I’m interested in history and business. One of my main concerns with starting college is that I will graduate without knowing what I want to do. Although I know I would like to enter the business field, I am not quite sure which area. I am also concerned because unlike high school, there is not a teacher or counselor always on your back telling you how you are performing. I know that I will need to try my hardest to maintain a solid gpa. I am also concerned with falling behind on my homework considering the fact that my classes are not every single day.
I think my first year in college will change me only for the better. I am hoping that it will make me a more organized person. It will force me to manage my time and help me to grasp the true concept of multi-tasking. All in all, I am genuinely excited to be attending Baruch college this year.

Who Do You Think You Are?
The question, who do you think you are?, is very interesting since most of us don’t quite know who we actually are. But one can always try.
My name is Ivan and I currently attend Baruch, as a freshman. I’m Chinese-American, and have spent my whole life on Long Island. Everyone describes me as a down to earth guy, who likes the leisure life. I must admit, I am an avid sleeper (it’s one of my favorite hobbies). I’m rough around the edges, but once you get to know me, I’m a nice guy. Did I mention that I have a sweet tooth? (I mean I love sweets, especially ice cream cake with hot fudge, and Oreo/cookie bits). I like spending my time watching movies and having dinner with friends/family. Some interesting things are that I’ve never been to Disney land, it appears that everyone has been there. I also first got a cell phone as a junior in high school (thanks again mom and dad).
Being at Baruch is a scary feeling, as it feels just like high school when you were the freshman, clueless as to what’s in store for you. My top concerns for school are being exposed to a new environment and people especially living in the city, since I’ve been a small town boy my entire life. Secondly, I still don’t know where all the things are in the building and often forget my classrooms. Lastly, I am concerned about making friends as I am a very timid person and will unlikely initiate conversation with someone else.
Baruch is different from high school since it is so large and diverse. You’ll meet people from all over the world. Just being exposed to different cultures and people of those cultures, would allow me to expand my horizons, and get a better understanding of myself as an individual and about others, who may not think or act the same way as me.
Personally, I feel that being at Baruch will change me a lot as it will make me one step closer to being an adult. I’ll learn what I really want to do as an occupation, since I may derive from doing business, as I’ve heard a thousand times that 2/3 of people, when they go to college will change their major. Being a college student will also get me to become independent and manage my own time, since Professors won’t chase you down if you missed an assignment or were absent. Developing responsibilities, such as paying rent, learning to use credit cards, and cooking/ cleaning for myself. As much as people don’t want to think about it, their parents aren’t going to be there for them to mooch off forever, you have to grow your own wings and fly away. I think being at Baruch, we’ll do just that.

Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are? I hate this question because I never really know how to answer it. But I guess I’ll try the best way I can.
My name is Eunice Kang and I’m a freshman at Baruch. I’m 19 years old and Korean-American. I love doing really relaxing and down to earth activities like sitting at Starbucks all day reading a book, or listening to music by myself, and I also like to go out and have fun. My family and friends are the most important people in my life. I would do anything for the people I love and care about. They are a part of who I am for sure. My phone is my life. I’m constantly texting, checking Facebook etc. If I lost my phone, I think I would die. I’m running out of random facts about myself, so I guess for now, this is who I am.

Who Do You Think You Are?
My name is Lucy Zheng and I’m currently attending Baruch to see what I want to do with my life. spend most of my time at home on the computer or playing games. My top 3 concerns for freshman year are getting good grades, making new friends, and finding the right club. My main concern are the grades, I’d hate to fail or anything similar My other 2 concerns, I’m not as worried about as the first one because people in Baruch are very friendly. College is a bit different from my highschool since I can actually leave the building and come back to my classes. The wifi is also better than the one in my high school so that’s also a plus. Most professors are also less anal than my highschool teachers about lateness and attendance so that’s a relief, I try not be absent or late though. I always had problems with presenting in front of the class and I know Baruch is always emphasizing about speaking in front of the class so I hope my presentation skills are better by the end of freshman year.

Who Do You Think You Are?
Who do I think I am?…Well, my name is Rochelle Tsui. I’m just an ordinary teen trying to make it through college. Currently I am a freshamn at Baruch College and I plan to do something in the field of Business, just like the majority of the student body. However, I feel entering the field of business is a huge mistake for me since I don’t have a passion for it, which leads me to my first concern. I want to do something I love, I don’t want to major in business just because of the money, like most people. On the contrary, money does make the world go round, so I’m kind of conflicted. Anyway, my second concern is to keep my gpa as high as possible ideally a 4.0. My last concern is taking whatever requirements before entering the school of my choice.
So far, my Baruch College is exactly the same as my high school experience because of the blocks we have and some of the professors treat us like high school students. College is supposed to be an environment entirely strange to us where we try to adapt to it based on our own abilities. Having blocks, to ease our way into college does not help with that. In the real world we aren’t going to be so lucky to get “blocks.”
I don’t think my first year of college will change me much, since it doesn’t seem like anything new thus far, but the next three years might.

‘Who Do You Think You Are?’
Who am I? I’m Audrey, Aud, Aud Lew, or Audacious. I’m a dreamer, an artist, a writer, a pianist, a photographer and a teenager. I’m also a freshman at Baruch. Before this semester started I was so excited but also scared out of my skin. One of my major concerns was keeping up with the material in all of my courses also, the word syllabus just scares me. I was also concerned with not knowing where to go, believe it or not. In high school, I would know exactly where to go for the solution to problems, I would know who talk to about a specific issue where as in Baruch I thought I would be completely lost in the sea. But the one thing I was concerned about the most was not staying true to myself and changing my ways just to “make friends” in college (I can tell you that this is no longer a concern).
College life is a different breed from high school life. It’s more raw and real; it’s like a reality check. The one thing I know that will make my experience at Baruch College different from my high school experience is the fact that I can broaden my network so much more. Where as I had only about maybe a thousand or so people going to my high school, I now have the entire campus..the entire city to network. Another aspect that I think will be different is the atmosphere in general, everything is so much more fast paced yet at the same time more relaxed. It’s a complete contradiction but some how it works.
Change occurs whether you like it or not. I don’t exactly know how my first of college will change me but I do hope that it will change me in the sense that it will make me more mature in all aspects of my life.

Who Do You Think You Are
My name is Marc Betsh and i am currently a freshman at Baruch College. I plan to get my degree and gradute from the Zicklin School of Business. I am not sure what i want to major and minor in, although i know that whatever i do decide to major in, will have to do with business. I truly believe that i can learn many great valuable lessons and ideas from Baruch College that can help me achieve my goals. I really want to be a succesful businessman in the future and i plan on doing what ever it takes to do just that. My first concern about my freshman year at Baruch College is doing well in all my classes and receiving a good GPA. The reason why i am concerned about this, is because i know how important it is to graduate college with a high GPA and i know how the first year of college can lead the way for all the others. It is very important to get a good start. My second concern is how i will be able to manage my time. Unlike highscool where all the teachers are constanly checking up on you and making sure you do your work, college is totally different. In college it is very important to stay on top of your work, or else it is possible that you can get left behind and as a result your grade can suffer. I must be organized and focused on my work in order to achieve my goals. My third and final concern and worry about my freshman year at college is my ability to network and meet new friends. I know how important it is to expand your network and you never know when someone from your past can help you in the future. I think the one thing that will make my Baruch College experience different than my highschool experience is that i plan to be more active and to have more school spirit in college than i did in highschool. I plan to get involven in many organizations and many interest groups. I think this will help my college experience be a fun one. The way my first year of college will change me is that i feel it will make me be more selfsufficient and independent. This first year of college will definitley help me to adapt to, and to give me the first hand look as to how the “real world” actually is. U am very excited for the next chapter of my college experience, and i cant wait to see what Baruch College has in store for us.

Who Do You Think You Are?
I am a currently a student at Baruch College trying to find out, what i want to do with my life. Business is something i definitely want to do, but the area is broad. Can’t decide on what i want to do. I doing business not because i think I’m going to enjoy it but because i want to make money. I don’t know anyone that wants to do business because it’s fun. As a person I may seem nice, quiet and gentle, but I’m actually very obnoxious. I can get really loud when I’m surrounded by a throng of people and I don’t have much self control. I can be tactless at times because I’m so busy indulging in what people call fun. My top three concerns for this year is trying to get a 4.0 gpa my freshmen year, trying to adjust to the college environment and managing my own time. What makes Baruch so different from high school is the maturity level and a certain level of ambitious each student has. Since the educationally system in high school is free, there is a complacency that settles in each student, because they have nothing to lose. In college; however, since money is coming out of most students pockets, the level of seriousness increase. Not a lot of people like to waste money. As students are paying for their education, the mental of “not wanting to waste a single cent” takes over a person. My first year of college will definitely show me how serious i can take my life.
