Blog 7 – Hang to Dry

ENG 2100

Professor Graves

  • I would like to thank you guys (my peer review group) for helping me write my papers with proper revisions from good advice. At first, I thought very little of peer review. I thought you guys would just write with the intentions of getting a good grade; however, you gave me awesome advice that helped me score well.
  • You guys have helped me learned a lot about my writing process. You all taught me that the writing process doesn’t have to be so difficult if you simply space out your writing, don’t overstress yourself, and revise (a lot).
  • I would summarize Professor Graves’ themes into a few themes. First, “shitty first drafts” are ok. Next, no one is really credible (at least that’s what I took away from that one class). Lastly, slow down and elaborate on my writing a bit more.
  • I want to continue to improve my efficiency. I tend to procrastinate when writing, but I believe I can be much more efficient and write better papers if I put the time in instead of waiting until last minute.
  • From my topic I have learned a lot. First, I appreciate the film A Bronx Tale a lot more than I originally did at the beginning of the semester. Next, I learned a lot more about trauma and PTSD than I intended. Lastly, I learned that I am progressively evolving from who I used to be, and my experiences are assisting with that. I see this more and more as I mature.
  • My final plans for my paper are to make it flow and relate to each other sections to show that the three parts are really one.
  • If I had to keep adding to this paper I would elaborate on the film and possible add more stories in part 2. I would want to show (more so) how the themes throughout A Bronx Tale relate to me.
  • I have learned that my writing process seems efficient to others, but I know I can do better. I can (as mentioned before) stop procrastinating, revise more, and put the time in.
  • My academic intentions moving forward are to improve on my writing in ENG 2150 even more, and see my limits if I actually stop procrastinating and put the time in.
  • I wish for you guys to succeed in whatever it is you hope to achieve and throughout your studies in Baruch.

  1. I’m glad that the advice I gave you helped with your writing. It was really interesting to read and learn about a movie that I never heard about. I can tell from the edits and revisions that your work became a lot better. In addition, I agree with your procrastination because I can tell when you wrote your drafts they seemed to have a bit of effort, but after I see it completed, it was a lot better.

  2. I’m glad that we were able to help you understand that there’s always room for revision. I never watched that movie and your first unit allowed me to understand what that movie was about. The revisions improved your writing in many different ways. I’m glad you listened to our ideas and comments. I hope the best for you.
