Note1- this note is like a metaphor that gives the reader something to think about. It also gives us an idea of where the author is heading in her writing. She also wants us to know there is people who agree with her
Note 2 – This note is another metaphor for the fact that “the wilderness” (society) is drying out peoples tongues (Silencing people). I believe this was put into the text because it’s related to the fact that the author never heard a female say “nosotras” before and in her society “nosotros” is only used.
note 11 – This note provides the reader with additional outside information , what it means to be Hispanic and the origin of the word Hispanic .
note 8- The author used this note to refer the book to the reader. She also wanted to make a point that it was published in 1967 and was written in the authors home language, Chicano Spanish.
