Blog 7-Hang To Dry

Dear Peer Review Group,

Thank you guys for providing helpful feedback for my writing and for helping me improve upon my writing skills. My peer reviews have taught me that you can never have enough details in your writing. In my first drafts, I described subjects and topics broadly, however, my peer review group helped me realize that the audience you are writing to likely doesn’t have the same knowledge as you about the topic you are writing about. Because of this, you need to provide context so that the reader can understand certain things about your writing the same way that you do. I received similar feedback from Prof. Graves. I brought up good points and topics in my writing, but I hadn’t gone into detail about them. This left my paper feeling empty at certain points. In my writing, I would like to improve upon my organization. Often, after rereading my paper, I find that a sentence would be better if it were placed somewhere else in my essay. I thought that some of the typical problems of American society were over exaggerated. However, in my research, I found alarming statistics, such as: 88,000 people die every year from over-drinking, or that the average teen spends 8 hours/day on their phone. I’ve learned that these issues are very real and they are dangerous. Before I turn in my final copy of my semester-long writing, I must organize my 3 units into one coherent essay, fix my unit 2 narrative, and proofread my paper. If I needed to keep adding to this paper, I would discuss other TV shows/films in the same mold of Jackass. In my writing process, I learned that I write much more efficiently when a deadline is fast-approaching. In my academic future, I hope to end or at least diminish my procrastination habits. I wish you guys the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Harrison Moskowitz
