My first unit in writing was a very arduous, but rewarding process. I originally had an array of potential artifacts to write about. But during the writing process, I realized that most of them would not suffice. I attempted to think back to every article of media content I’ve ever consumed, and eventually, I found my way to writing about why “Jackass” is a work of art. Once I found the perfect series, the writing process became much easier for me. The latest movie installment perfectly embodied the message of the entire series and I had vivid memory of my first experience of the series.

In my first unit of writing some of the themes were the desire for youthfulness and to live a balanced life. This is perfectly demonstrated in the new, story-oriented “Jackass” movie in which an old man purchases the amusement park he always went to as a kid, and has to go to great lengths to defend the park from the greasy hands of a big corporation.

Some trope include common gags like pie-in-the-face or drinking piss.

The plot point of “D.C.” refusing to sell the amusement park is a metaphor for not wanting to let go of his childhood. Moreover, this can be seen as a “good vs. evil” plot, with the big corporation representing evil.

What helped with my analysis of the artifact is my general attitude towards life and how I was raised (very strictly). This is what made the concept so captivating to me.
