Blog 6: Research Update

For my Unit-3 project research, I intend on conducting specific research into the category of the effects of trauma on the brain, and an individual’s perception on the world. I believe it will not be so hard to find specific sources that will contribute to my writing, but the research may turn out repetitive, and I may have to change up my questions a bit to get varied information. I wish to find a primary source account of someone who has experienced trauma; or, to expand on it, Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder. This part should be relatively easy, since there are countless pieces on someone who experienced this. I also wish to find a scientific study (or a few), to dive deeper into trauma as a disorder, explaining its effect on the brain, literally. I wish to achieve the perfect amalgamation of literal impact and figurative impact of trauma on an individual. A few questions I plan to ask are: How long does it take to recover from trauma, generally? What are the different form of trauma? Is it possible to recover from the most severe forms of trauma? How exactly does one’s perception of the world around them change once they have been affected by trauma? To find all this information I will search the databases we learned of in class, as well as google scholars and google, itself. I may interview someone who has personally been affected and diagnosed with PTSD as my primary account. In an ideal world, a simple google search or trip to the library will answer most, if not all of my questions. In a less ideal world, I will have to search rigorously through the databases to find specific, credible information that would fit my writing perfectly.
