In our first unit writing assignment, I wrote about Toy Story 3. I analyzed specific scenes that I had found memorable when I was a kid and focused on connecting it to my theme. My theme was about adapting to new situations in life and how it can be hard to adapt/change for the betterment of oneself. I decided to go with this theme because I realized that in Toy Story 3, Andy is trying to adapt to college and the toys in the movie are moving on from him to go to sunny side. Trope ‘s that I found in the fictional genre are happy endings, the protagonist always wins over the antagonist, and the protagonist always gets the girl. Toy Story 3 as a whole shows the audience that change is a very scary thing and it could be hard to change, but its needed to go through life. The experiences as a kid playing with toys and watching this movie, it was scary to go to college for me and to leave behind my toys. This scary feeling I had, sticked with me through the years and time to time I would think back on it, which caused me to analyze Toy Story 3.
