Some discourse communities I am in are Dexcom, the Russian community, piano playing, suicide awareness, chronic illnesses, smoking, boxing, wrestling, and a Baruch student. My artifact is the semi colon and the discourse community it fits in is to one of my discourse communities which is suicide awareness. The semicolon is a tattoo, that symbolizes that a person has decided to continue their life after a battle of depression or a suicide attempt. It is one of the biggest awareness symbols that has helped many people including my friend. A simple tiny piece that no one but you can see, and is always there to help you feel better, allow you to understand that you are in charge. Also, that your life is a story with plot twists that you can fix and change and continue because you are the author. Someone from the outside might not understand what this semicolon is doing on the body and might believe that that person is a writing geek or has a messed-up tattoo. In these cases, people should have that will to not judge the person, not ask questions, and just google the tattoo. People who have fought the battle with depression and suicide attempts usually dislike talking about that past, and get these tattoos so people could just know if they see it, or for people to never it.

I definetly believe the discourse community you need to focus on would be suicide awareness or people who are depressed and dealing with mental/emotional problems. I do however see that there is missing details on how your opinion and experience had changed over the years as you’ve progressed in age.
