Conecel Company property of América Móvil contest the $138.5 million dollars fine that was imposed by Ecuador superintendency of Market Power Control, which affirmed that Carlos Slim’s company exerted “Abuse of Market Power” in 2012. Also, the Superintendency announced that in it defense will exert the legal resources that law contemplates.

In a statement Conecel stated that the fine is unjustified and respond to ” a complaint from the state operator CNT (is a public Telecommunication Company, known in Spanish as La Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones of Ecuador) referring to five pieces of land (of thousand that Conecel lease) in which CNT claims that they would not been able to expand their networks, in the same zones where the five pieces of land are located. Conecel said that there are options; alternate and suitable areas, in which CNT’s required infrastructure, could be installed without problem. Also, that there does not exist, then, any entry barriers nor limited competition for any operator.”

The company that operates in Ecuador as an affiliate of Claro considered that “the magnitude of the fine is disproportionate, violate the constitutional principle of proportionality, and affects the legal security in which the process of investment is based.”

“Conecel will exert the resources that law contemplates, in order to achieve a resolution in accordance with the law, that guarantee the legal process within a framework of legal security.

Manifestantes cerca del puente George Washington piden la renuncia de Christie si sabía del plan de cierre de carriles

FORT LEE- Miembros de una organización de tendencia demócrata se reunieron con residentes del norte de Nueva Jersey, los cuales quedaron atrapadas en el tráfico en septiembre, durante el repentino cierre de los carriles del puente George Washington, para pedir la renuncia de Christie ,si resulta estar envuelto en el incidente.

“Nosotros queremos una respuesta porque pasó eso, y si el gobernador estaba envuelto, él debería                  renunciar”. Dijo Robert Tessarro, 37, de Fort Lee, propietario de un pequeño negocio, quien estuvo atrapado en el tráfico el primer día de clausura.

“El puente es una parte de Fort Lee, es una parte de quienes somos. Pero fue utilizado como una arma en contra de nosotros”, dijo Tessaro. “Muchos de mis amigos y familiares no pudieron llegar al trabajo. Ellos no pudieron llegar a la escuela”.

Los investigadores están investigando, si los cierres  fueron provocación política, creadas como represalia contra el gobernador de Fort Lee por no respaldar la re-elección de Christie, o como desquité contra otra persona por otra razón.

The firm Conecel, owned by America Movil refuted a $138.5 Million fine by the superintendency of market power control in Ecuador. The superintendency claims that Carlos Slim’s firm conducted “abuses of market power” in 2012. The firm announced that they would use any and all available legal means in its defense.

In a memo, Conecel states that the fines are unjustified and responds to a complaint filed by the state operated, Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, which refers to the five cell sites (out of the thousands that Conecel operates) in which the CNT claims they have been unable to expand their network. “There are multiple options and alternative plots in the same geographic location that are identical to those five sites where the required infrastructure could be allocated. There have not been any barriers to entry or limits imposed by competitors for any providers.”

The firm that operates in Ecuador as a subsidiary of Claro, stated “the magnitude of the fine is disproportionate to the charges, violates the constitutional principles of subsidiary and proportionality and effects the legal procedures that regulate investments.” “Conecel will exercise all forms of remediation in order to achieve a proper resolution and to ensure to due process in accordance with the law.”
