Falsos Cognados – Andres Rivera

Back when I was still learning English, I relied a lot on translating when talking to others. However, I was not completely aware that although some things sound similar, they convey different meanings.

I was asked about my parents’ current work but I answered like this “my father’s actual job is waiter.” My very ne sarcastic teacher looks at me and said “what is his real job then?” After some other sarcastic comment he finally let me know that I meant to say “Current job” for “trabajo actual”

Similarly to this false cognate, some friend started “vamos a ver cartoon.”
