Homer Simpson Crashes “Selfie”
- “Simpsons” creator Matt Groening runs with Ellen DeGeneres’s idea and creates his own version in classic Simpsons style

LOS ANGELES—The historic “selfie” tweeted by Ellen DeGeneres during the Oscars has been a hot topic on news, TV and radio shows and is still getting lots of play. The unstoppable party has now been crashed by the creator of “The Simpsons,” who recreated the photo of Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence and company with Homer Simpson in it.
With the dark humor for which the legendary Fox series is renowned, Groening’s version shows the father of the famous Springfield clan being kicked out of the picture by Bradley Cooper, who’s taking the shot. The image was posted on Twitter in the hope of generating lots of retweets, as DeGeneres did on Sunday with the original selfie, which broke the record for retweets with more than three million,
Groening isn’t the only one to recreate this viral image. A version done with Lego figurines is circulating online, as are many others including one DeGeneres herself retweeted to her followers, in which children who have cancer pose just like the Hollywood stars at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
