Homer Simpson photo bombs a “Selfie”

Matt Groening, creator of the Simpsons, capitalizes on Ellen DeGeneres’ idea in order to create his own version in classic Simpsons style.
The historic “selfie” taken by Ellen DeGeneres during the Oscars continues having enormous impact. It has been the topic of countless television shows, news articles and radio shows. The image has become a viral phenomenon that has even garnered the attention of the creator of the Simpsons who used the photo of Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, and others to recreate the scene with Homer Simpson in the foreground.
Groening’s version includes the patriarch of the Springfield clain being kicked by Cooper as he tries to take the now famous image, an act that adds the typical dark sense of humor that the Fox sitcom is notorious for. The original image has exploded across the Twittersphere with over 3 million retweets since DeGeneres posted the image on Sunday.
Groening hasn’t been the only one to recreate the viral image. There has also been a version that uses Lego figurines circling through the web along with other reimagining such as DeGeneres version featuring child cancer patients who posed in similar fashion to the celebrities at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
