Argentina Off to a Good Start
London.- Argentina’s national women’s field hockey team, Las Leonas, the reigning World Cup champions, today defeated 1-0 their Chinese counterparts, Beijing 2008 Olympic Games silver medalist, in their second friendly match in London before their debut Sunday at the Olympic Games against South Africa.
The chance came from a penalty corner scored by the defender Noel Barrionuevo, during the first 10 minutes of the second quarter.
“We played well. I was satisfied with the performance of the team. China wanted to play a close match, and we are going to do the same thing on Sunday debut game with South Africa”, expressed the coach of the team, Carlos Retegui, after the match.
