Adopted by the Security Council at its 7815th meeting, on 10 December 2016

The Security Council,

Reaffirming the need for just peace, the determination to preserve the sovereignty, political independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Ukraine,

Affirming that all the member countries, by accepting the Charter of the United Nations, have made a commitment to act in accordance with what the Charter set out,

  1. Insists that compliance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations requires that peace be established and respect for the territorial integrity of the Nations;
  1. Urges Ukraine to authorize Crimea to conduct a new referendum in a true atmosphere of peace and public stability so that in this way this decision of Crimean citizens is of legal character,
  1. Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.

Introduction

Adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) is one of the fastest growing cardiology subgroups in recent years, due to early diagnosis and advances in surgical and endovascular treatment. It is calculated that 85-90% of patients with congenital heart diseases reach adulthood. The survival of these patients generates complications and sequelae that contribute to a higher rate of hospital admissions and new surgeries, among other procedures1,2.

It is estimated that 5 to 10% of patients with ACHD develop pulmonary hypertension (PH) during its progression3,4, making it the most frequent cause of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) after connective tissue diseases5,6. Its’ appearance is related to a worse prognosis for the patient.

The objective of the present study was to analyze the epidemiological characteristics, clinical and pharmacological treatment in patients with PAH and their impact on survival.

The Chinese ad uses ordinary people – in this case it appears to be a grandmother and granddaughter – to appeal to other ordinary consumers while the english ad uses celebrities and pop culture to sell their products since Americans tend to look to celebrities for inspiration. The chinese ad is much more sentimental and reflects the importance of relationships between the elderly and younger generations (where the younger generations are expected to provide and care for the elderly in China). It also shows that even older, more traditional generations (shown by using a record player) can appreciate their products as things go digital. On the other hand, the english ad is clearly intended for millennials as the ad uses a vibrant color scheme, celebrities, and the focus on the new features of their product – for the millennial who already has access to all things digital and are looking for new products or features.

Google Translate – Josselyn

Pienso que Google Translate es una buena herramienta que apoya la traducción pero no para traducir artículos o documentos en completo. Como explica Bello en el capitulo 23, la traducción mecánica no compara con la traducción humana porque una maquina no entiende contexto.

Siempre he utilizado Google Translate para ver la traducción de una palabra o frase y pensaba que era la herramienta perfecta. Pero después de ver el video sobre como funciona, veo que puede hacer errores y aveces no esa la herramienta perfecta y se ve cuando se usa Google Translate para traducir los dos artículos.

Con el articulo sobre Juan Gabriel, habían errores pero se entendía. Por ejemplo, “Que maravilloso!”, se oyó desde las bocinas la voz de Juan Gabriel, inconfundible” fue traducido a “How wonderful!” He was heard from the speakers the voice of Juan Gabriel, unmistakable. Para que tenga mas sentido lo traduje a “The unmistakable voice of Juan Gabriel was heard from the speakers saying, “How wonderful!” Pero aparte de eso, la traducción no fue horrible.

Pienso que los errores fueron mas obvio en el ultimo párrafo del articulo sobre el gobernador Paul LePage: “Es parte de un pedazo más grande que cubre toda la pared de 100 pies de largo, con las palabras “descarga” en LePage 6 pies de altura letras mayúsculas rojas y blancas.” Como han señalado en los otros blog posts, debería decir “es parte de una obra…” Y la traducción de “Dump LePage” in 6-foot-high red and white block letters” a “descarga” en LePage 6 pies de altura…” – no dice la misma cosa ni se entiende.

Los falsos cognados – Josselyn

Crecí hablando español hasta que llegue a los Estados Unidos a la edad de 5. Por los primeros anos aquí, aprendi y hablaba en spanglish porque haci enseñaban las clases porque vivi en un barrio hispano. A pesar de que continue usando el español, pienso que mi español es un poco mas de lo que se aprende en la escuela secundaria.

Cuando no se como decir algo en lugar de decir algo mal, trato de explicar la palabra que quiero decir entonces no creo que tengo muchas experiencias con los falsos cognados. Pero si me acuerdo de una vez cuando estaba en la escuela secundaria, estuve conversando con mi mama o mi abuela – no me acuerdo cual de las dos era. Le estaba contando algo que me paso en la escuela que me avergonzó. Hice el error típico y le dije que estuve embarazada por tratar de hablar rápido. Pero cuando me oí, me di cuenta de lo que dije y la expresión en la cara de mi abuela/mama también me dijo que estaba usando la palabra equivocada. Nos reímos por el error que hice pero al mismo tiempo estuve un poco avergonzada.
