RIO DE JANEIRO.- The judiciary is closing in on Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. For the first time yesterday, the federal prosecutors investigating the multi-million Petrobras corruption case formally charged the popular former president of Brazil (2003-2010) with being the main leader of the graft scheme at the state oil company.

At a press conference in Curitiba, where the investigation that has shaken the Brazilian political and business world for more than two years is centered, Deltan Dallagnol, lead prosecutor of Operação Lava Jato, or Operation Car Wash, declared that “Lula was the top boss of the Petrobras corruption scheme.”

Rio de Janeiro.- The judicial rope closing in around Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has become tighter. For the first time, the Federal Public Ministry, who is investigating the multimillion dollar Petrobras corruption case, formally accused the popular former president of Brazil (2003-2010) yesterday for being the main leader of the bribery network in the state oil company.

“Lula was the top commander in the corruption scheme in Petrobras,” said Deltan Dallagnol, prosecutor in the Lava Jato Operation, during a press conference in Curitiba, where, for the past two years, investigations have been shaking the Brazilian political and business world.

RIO DE JANEIRO – Investigadores brasileños acusaron el miércoles al ex presidente de Brasil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva de corrupción y lavado de dinero, llamándolo el “Comandante Máximo”  del gigantesco escándalo de corrupción cometido en la nación más grande de Latinoamérica.

Mientras se esperaban las acusaciones contra Silva – el mes pasado la policía ha confiado-  sobre la participación de Silva en el asombroso esquema de sobornos de la petrolera estatal Petrobras.

Durante los dos últimos años, la llamada operación Lava-Jato, ha dado lugar al encarcelamiento de docenas de empresarios y políticos importantes. Mientras que Silva, ex – presidente entre el 2003 y 2010, ha estado implicado en esta situación durante mucho tiempo, aunque antes del miércoles los fiscales solo habían dicho que él no era más que un beneficiario.

For the first time the Brazilian authorities, that are investigating the multimillionaire corruption case in Petrobras, yesterday formally accused the highly influential ex-president of Brazil (2003-2010) of being the main leader of the vast graft scheme that ruled over the national oil company.

RIO DE JANEIRO.-  The judicial arms are closing in on Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. For the first time, the Brazilian authorities, who are part of the corruption investigation involving the state-owned oil company, Petrobras, has accused the ex-president (2003-2010) of being the main leader in the bribe scheme which prevailed in the oil company.

“Lula was the highest ranked commander of the corruption scheme in Petrobras”, said Deltan Dallagno, the coordinator of the prosecutors in the so called Car Wash Investigation, during a press release in Curitiba, where the investigations that have been staggering Brazil’s political and corporate world for over two years have been focused.

Fiscalía: Lula da Silva “comandante” de la corrupción en Brasil

RIO DE JANEIRO.- El miércoles investigadores brasileños presentaron cargos en contra del expresidente de Brasil Inacio Lula da Silva por lavado de dinero y corrupción, llamándolo el “comandante máximo” del escándalo de corrupción por el que pasa la nación más grande de Latinoamérica.

Los cargos presentados en contra de Silva ya eran de esperarse dado que la policía ya los había recomendado un mes atrás, aun así las características de su participación  en la red de corrupción y sobornos dentro de la empresa estatal Petrobras fue sorprendente.

La operación llamada Lava – Jato en los últimos dos años ha puesto tras las rejas a docenas de empresarios y líderes políticos. La fiscalía siempre implicó a Silva quien fue presidente entre el 2003 y el 2010,  pero había sido considerado como sólo un beneficiario hasta el miércoles pasado.

For the first time yesterday, the public prosecutor’s office – which is investigating the multimillion-dollar corruption case in Petrobras – formally accused the popular ex-president of Brazil of being the senior leader of the bribery scheme that reigned in the state owned oil company.

“Lula was the maximum commander of the corruption scheme in Petrobras,” said Deltan Dallagnol, lead prosecutor of the so-called Operation Lava Jato, during a press conference in Curitiba – which is at the center of the ongoing investigation that has shaken Brazil’s political and business world for more than two years now.
