The commercials I decided to choose are from Corona, a beer company.Corona is very popular in both the United States and other Spanish speaking countries. Both of these advertisements are geared towards audiences from their own countries, although the English speaking one could also be seen as a big hit amongst spanish speaking audiences, more so than the other way around.
In the Spanish speaking ad, linked first, two men appear playing with a soccer ball. This first bit would definitely play well in spanish speaking circles because of the huge popularity of the sport, more so than in our country. It would remind spanish audiences of watching the sport back home or even in our own country. Also, there is a group that sings a spanish song, also reminding spanish audiences of music from their countries and could appeal to them in that way as well.
The english speaking ad is more geared towards both english and spanish speaking audiences. The ad primarily focuses on the theme of relaxation. The basic theme of the commercial is to kick off your shoes and enjoy a beer. This is a concept that any audience can relate to, and is a big selling point for beer in general.
