Las Leonas Are Prepared to Win
Argentina’s women field hockey team Las Leonas, last World Cup champions, today defeated their Chinese counterparts, runner-up in Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, by 1-0, in their second friendly match in London before their debut in the Olympic Games, which will be on Sunday before South Africa.
The only goal was scored by the defense Noel Barrionuevo from the penalty corner at ten minutes of the second half.
“We played well. I left satisfied with the team’s performance. China wanted to play behind closed doors, so we tried to make a drill of what we are going to do on Sunday in our first match with South Africa,” said the team’s coach, Carlos Retegui, after the game.
