Conversation Partners Program Information and Application
From Prof. Elizabeth Minei, Communication Studies
Hello Baruch Faculty, Staff, and Community Members:
Please let your students know of the following program, Conversation Partners Program (CPP), either in class, on Blackboard, or both. CPP matches native and nonnative speakers of English for informal conversations. The partnerships are a great way for non-native students to gain confidence in English, for native speakers to gain experience in communicating across language barriers, and for both native and nonnative speakers to expand their cultural knowledge, make friends, and build a network of professional contacts. To participate, students should be willing to commit to meeting their partner about one hour per week for a minimum of six conversations. We also feature fun events throughout the semester, like trivia night, tea time, game night, professional development, and a closing ceremony for community building.
To Apply: Application or https://baruch.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eycw2hE42wE8xi5
Orientation will be held:
- Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. Location TBD
- Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Location TBD
For more information and to sign up, see http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/cpp
The deadline for signing up is September 14, 2018.
Note: CPP often has more nonnative than native students signing up so please encourage both nonnative and native speakers to participate.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me via email: Elizabeth.Minei@Baruch.cuny.edu. Thank you!
Best,
Dr. Elizabeth M. Minei
