Free Tickets for a Japanese opera (based on Mishima’s Noh Play)

Japan Society is excited to kick off its 2022-23 Performing Arts Season with a look at the inspirations and challenges behind Hanjo—a reality-bending opera written by acclaimed Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa, based on one of Yukio Mishima’s Modern Noh Plays. In this in-person talk, Italian director Luca Veggetti and Catapult Opera founder (and Hanjo conductor) Neal Goren discuss the hopeless mad-love story portrayed in Mishima’s original script ahead of the opera’s North American premiere at NYU Skirball (Sept. 30 & Oct. 2).

The evening begins with an introduction to Yukio Mishima and his famous noh play by Prof. Satoko Naito and a pre-recorded interview with Hosokawa, culminating in a live singing of the opera’s centerpiece aria.

We wanted to let you know that we are offering FREE student tickets. Students can use the code STUFREE to redeem this offer on our ticketing site when adding a Non-Member ticket to their cart.

Please note this is an in-person event at Japan Society, located at 333 East 47th Street.

We appreciate any support you can provide in getting the word out to your students, and we hope to see you and your students in our theater soon!

Best,

Amanda
