Due to signs of opiate intoxication and imminence of respiratory failure, airway support and treatment with naloxone were initiated. During emergency care, the patient indicated localized precordial pain, of moderate intensity, without dysautonomia or dyspnea. Faced with the possibility of acute coronary syndrome, troponin I was requested, whose initial result was 0.48 ng/ml (reference value:0- 0.3 ng/ml.) The initial electrocardiogram showed ST segment elevation in the anterolateral region (fig. 2.) The result of the echocardiography ruled out abnormalities. Given the clinical and biochemical findings, Type II acute myocardial infarction with ST elevation, Killip I was diagnosed, so vasodilator therapy was initiated with intravenous nitroglycerin at low doses, dual antiplatelet therapy (clopidogrel and aspirin) and full anticoagulation with low molecular weight heparin.

Dictionary of Poli Sci & International Rel.

Dictionary of Political Science and International Relations (English-Spanish Spanish-English) : Diccionario de Ciencias Politicas y Relaciones Internacionales (Español – Inglés Inglés – Español)

This dictionary was published in July of 2003 by Editorial Castilla La Vieja, based out of Lansdowne, PA. The fact that this book was published in 2003 probably has something to do with it being an online resource. ***More about the publishing company- (“University libraries include Harvard, Cornell, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and many more.  Scientific libraries include the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Museum of Natural History, and many more.”)(Editorial Castilla)

The author of this book is Kenneth Allen Hornak; he is currently a lexicographer(someone who complies dictionaries) for Editorial Castilla La Vieja. He attended Penn State University and graduated with a bachelors in “Spanish / Linguistics, Spanish Language / Linguistics.” He also did independent graduate work with the distinguished Professor Carlos Zamora from 1984 to 1985.(“Dr. Carlos Zamora joined Penn State’s faculty in 1973 as an associate professor of Spanish. He was active in Mexican American affairs for a number of years; his primary interest was in education. He served as the first chairman of the first department of Mexican American Studies in the United States, which was established in 1970 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 1972, he coordinated a summer program for Mexican American professors, which was held at the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City. He also organized a number of seminars and workshops on bilingual education. He was a consultant to the Modern Language Association’s Commission on Minority Groups and the Study of Language and Literature.”)(Penn State Library) Additionally, he also studied at La Universidad de Salamanca where he studied Spanish linguistics and Spanish technical terminology. His dictionaries are commonly found in the libraries of many schools all over the nation. With all that said, one could imagine that his dictionaries carry some level of “authority.” He seems to have extensive background within Spanish Linguistics.

This book is only an online resource at our school library, I could not locate a hard copy. This dictionary acts as a translation tool; not necessarily a definition tool. Therefore; it wont define the word whether in English or Spanish, it will merely translate the word.

I went ahead and used Reverso to test a word and see if they would be translated the same. I used “amotinamiento” which was translated to “mutiny” by both sources. However, Reverso did have other meanings such as “riot” and “rising.” But, those are just other ways of saying “mutiny.” This dictionary would serve as a great tool for someone who was translating an article that had to do with international affairs. Lets say it was an article about some war; one could most definitely turn to this resource. Another scenario would be translating something that had to do with healthcare in the USA or any of our government aid programs such as welfare. One last scenario would be if someone was working on translating something that had to do with our global markets or our stock market.

Eduardo Halfon: The Joys of the Traveler

Eduardo Halfon, a Guatemalan native, writes a hilarious and lucid journey of a trip to Israel in his book Monastery. Within the story he analyzes the religious intolerances in our global era. This novel is part of a larger project written by this world-renowned writer.

To what extent is all of your work part of a single literary project?

It is a project in which I’m not very conscious; it has been growing with time. It began in 2008, when I published The Polish Boxer (Pre-textos), a book that consists of six stories spun by an Eduardo Halfon who is very much like myself. The plot of that book is the history of my grandfather in relation to Auschwitz, a tattoo and a boxer. Two years later, in 2010 a story from that book turns into a short novel, La Pirueta. Monastery comes out of “White Smoke,” another story from Polish Boxer. The next book, Signor Hoffman, continues within this universe, in other words, there are four books for now, lined up, related, written by one single person who is looking for something, who travels a lot. All the books are about trips, either to Israel, Serbia or Poland. They are short books but related and intimate, some of them answer the questions in the others. What has been happening, which is interesting and fascinating, is that every country that has been translating my books, has been reformatting them. In the United States, The Polish Boxer includes La pirueta and Monastery to Signor Hoffman. In Japan, all four are published as a single book. Italy, Germany, France, every country is different. What I’ve been doing without knowing it, is writing one single book. They are all part of a larger project, which is called The Polish Boxer. That volume is the axis, the center and the core, which everything else revolves around.

To what degree are these actually travel accounts? How different are you from the Halfon who narrates the books?

I always begin with myself. I write like that. The birth of something intimate, the trip to Israel, my grandfather’s tattoo, the relationship with my father. But I’m not enough. I need to write about fiction in order to convey what I want, which is to give the reader an emotional ride. The other Eduardo, who is not me but really is me, who has my beard but smokes, I don’t smoke, is more daring and fearless, and responds to the taxi driver who says he wants to kill the Arabs. I would never do that, I’m more aloof, a coward if you must. The realest moments are not the events in my books, it’s not my sister’s wedding or the relationship I have with my brother. The realest moments are the fears, the awareness, and my childhood, that’s where I connect more closely with this narrator, more so then with the trips or events. But obviously everything arises from one person. My books are collections of stories from one narrator. They are episodes in one man’s life, they are all linked through the same voice, the same tone, the same man, and from there they can be ordered on top of the table in several ways.

Women’s Volleyball: Perú vs. Venezuela

Perú–mostly with a team of U-18 and U-20 players– debuts against Venezuela

 María José Fermi

The South American Volleyball Championships began today. Venezuela is Perú’s first opponent in Group A, which is also shared by Colombia and Paraguay. Only two will advance to the semifinals and no matter who may disagree they will all have to fight from the beginning.

Once again, Perú makes it to the tournament with a young and unacquainted team. Although this is a tournament for adults, in 2015’s South American Championship only five players are technically considered adults (Uribe, Yllescas, Egoavil, Muñoz and Olemar.)

The other nine are either U18 (Regalado, De la Peña, Guerrero and Sánchez) or U20 (Leyva, Gómez, Canessa and Almeida). With a limited selection of volleyball players, this is the reality we must confront the coaches with of nearly all age groups within national volleyball (especially within the adult ones.)

We have two Allstate commercials where they are advertising the same product/service. Both commercials are about “accident forgiveness.” I managed to find two commercials that are quite similar in the fact that they both involve a family as the back story. I feel like they choose to involve families within both commercials because most people can relate to them and connect on an emotional level. When selling insurance, it is important to reach that level of emotion that will push the shopper to think about their family and their children. Because after all, insurance is all about keeping things or people safe.

In the Spanish commercial, it begins immediately with the family, as to possibly suggest that Hispanics are much more family oriented. The English commercial begins speaking about her daughter, however the child is not introduced until the 14th second- (almost half the commercial). Additionally, the people in the Spanish commercial always seem much happier, even when they get into the accident. On the other hand, in the English commercial, the woman always seems upset. I guess Spanish people are just naturally happier.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing on behalf of Mr. Adrian Galeas and the position he his seeking at Wen Investment Group. I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Galeas for the past three years, where he was one of my junior brokers. Over the years, I have been able to familiarize myself with Mr. Galeas and can attest to his character and abilities.

The young-talented professionals that we hire do not easily meet the responsibilities assigned to junior brokers. However, Mr. Galeas met and exceeded such responsibilities with ease and a level of skill far greater than I’ve seen in young graduates like him. His attention to detail and knowledge of the stock market make him an ideal candidate for your organization. Mr. Galeas was always on time and ready to attack his daily duties, not leaving the office until everything was complete. Furthermore, he was capable of meeting strict deadlines on a weekly basis. He was also hardworking, energetic and a quick learner. Additionally, Mr. Galeas had a desire to take on new challenges- in which he accomplished tasks successfully.

We are sad to see Adrian leave us, but we understand his desire to relocate to the west coast. It is without reservation that I recommend Adrian Galeas for the position within your company. I’m positive he will be as great of an asset to your company as he was to ours. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Eleven dead, one million evacuated and millions in damages by an earthquake in Chile.

Santiago de Chile / September 17, 2015

(EFE/14ymedio)-The number of deaths caused by the earthquake that occurred Wednesday night in Northern Chile now amounts to eleven people, according to the director of Chile’s National Emergency Office(Onemi), Ricardo Toro. In addition, there are nine injured, one missing, a million evacuated and millions of dollars in damages.

The telluric movement- the third strongest in the history of this long-suffering nation, when in 1960 the largest earthquake in history was registered- it occurred at 7:54 p.m. local time and its epicenter was located 46km to the west of the northern town of Canela and 15.7 km in depth.

The strength of the earthquake caused the Navy’s Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service to issue a tsunami warning for the entire coast of Chile, more than 4000km of longitude, where consequently the authorities ordered an immediate evacuation.

Randy Falco, the president of Univision affirmed that Donald Trump, the candidate for the Republican nomination of the White House for 2016 disrespected reporter, Jorge Ramos and the entire Hispanic community.

In a statement, Falco was referring to a tense episode that occurred yesterday during the candidate’s press conference in Iowa, where Ramos and Trump engaged in a verbal argument. The reporter was momentarily removed from the room, although he was later permitted to return.

The treatment that Jorge Ramos recently received during the press conference by Mr. Trump while in Iowa is despicable. “Being a presidential candidate, Trump is going to receive some uncomfortable questions and he should respond to them.” Stated the president of the channel.
