(EFE/2:30pm). – The number of deaths caused by the earthquake that happened last night, Wednesday, in the north of Chile rose to eleven people, according to the director of the National Emergency Office (Onemi), Ricardo Toro. To this balance is also added nine injured, one missing, one million evacuated and millions in material losses.

The tremor–the third strongest in the history of this shattered nation, where in 1960 it registered the strongest earthquake in history—happened at 7:54pm local time, and its epicenter was located 46 kilometers west of the northern city Cenela, and presented 15,7 kilometers in depth.

The power of the tremor determined the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy to give a warning of potential tsunami to the entire Chilean coast, more than 4.000 kilometers of longitude, in which the authorities ordered an immediate evacuation.
