Peru vs. Venezuela will play at the South American Women’s Volleyball Championship
Peru with a team of mostly U18 and U20, makes its debut against the selected best from Venezuela

The South American Volleyball Championship started today. Venezuela is Peru’s first opponent in Group A, which also includes Colombia and Paraguay. Only two will advance to the semi-finals and, inevitably, they will have to fight for the spot.
Once again, Peru arrives to a tournament with a miss-matched team. Although this is a Women’s category tournament, only five players belong in the adult category (Uribe, Yllescas, Egoavil, Muñoz and Olemar).
The other nine are either U18 (Regalado, De la Peña, Guerrero and Sánchez) or U20 (Leyva, Gómez, Canessa and Almeida). With a limited universe of selectable players, this is a reality that every coach in almost every category in national volleyball has to face (especially the adult category).
