Adopted by the Security Council at its 7815th meeting, on 10 December, 2016

The Security Council,

Reaffirming the need for a just peace, and the determination to preserve the sovereignty, the political independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Ukraine,

 

Emphasizing that all Member States in their acceptance of the Charter of the United Nations have undertaken a commitment to act in accordance with the Charter,

 

  1. Insists that the compliance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations requires that peace and respect towards the territorial integrity of the nations be established;
  2. Urges Ukraine to authorize the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to carry out a new referendum in an atmosphere of genuine peace and public stability so that the decision of the citizens of Crimea can have legal standing,
  3. Desides to remain actively seized of the matter.

The Security Council,

Reaffirming the necessity of a fair peace, and the determination to preserve the sovereignty, political independence, unity, and the territorial integrity of Ukraine,

Affirming that all member countries, by accepting the Charter of the United Nations, have contracted the commitment to act in conformity with what the Charter establishes, \

1. Insist in that the obeisance that the principles of the Charter of the United Nations requires to establish peace and the respect towards the territorial integrity of the nations;

2. Urges Ukraine to authorize to the Crimean Peninsula the accomplishment of a new referendum of a real environment of peace and public stability in order to form a legally binding to this decision of the citizens of Crimea,

3. Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.

El Consejo de Seguridad,

        Poniendo de relieve la necesidad de que las Naciones Unidas y la comunidad internacional apoyen la consolidación de la confianza mutua entre la República Popular Democrática de Corea (RPDC) y la República de Corea,

        Reiterando sus resoluciones pertinentes anteriores, incluida la resolución 1927 (2010),

  1.      Denuncia el ataque contra el  Cheonan, un buque naval de la República de Corea, como una violación brutal de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Derecho del Mar;
  2.      Autoriza una nueva inspección sobre el incidente del Cheonan por el equipo internacional de expertos cuyo mandato es aclarar la cuestión;
  3.     Reitera la solicitud destacada en su resolución 1874 (2009) que RPDC se reincorpore        inmediatamente a las conversaciones entre las seis partes sin condiciones previas;
  4.     Decide seguir ocupándose de la cuestión.

Reafirmando sus anteriores resoluciones pertinentes, incluida la resolución 1927 (2010),

  1. Denuncia el reciente ataque contra el Cheonan, buque naval de la República de Corea, como una violación brutal de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Derecho del Mar;
  2. Autoriza la inspección del incidente de Cheonan por un equipo neutral de inspectores internacionales cuyo mandato es aclarar el asunto;
  3. Exige que los gobiernos de la República Popular Democrática de Corea y de la República de Corea cumplan su resolución 1927 (2010) sobre la controversia y la tensión causada por el incidente de Cheonan;

El Consejo de Seguridad,

Destacando la necesidad de las Naciones Unidas y de la comunidad internacional de apoyar la consolidación de confianza mutua entre la República Popular Democrática de Corea (RPDC) y la República de Corea,

Reafirmando las previas resoluciones relevantes incluyendo resolución 1927 (2010)

  1. Profundamente convencidos de que el ataque a Cheonan, un barco naval de la República de Corea, es una violación grave de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Derecho del Mar;
  2. Autoriza la inspección adicional del incidente de Cheonan por el equipo internacional de expertos a quienes su mandato es clarificar la cuestión;
  3. Reitera la demanda recalcada en la resolución 1874 (2009) para que RPDC vuelva inmediatamente a el Diálogo de los Seis sin condiciones previas;
  4. Decide seguir ocupándose activamente de la cuestión.

  1. Emphasizes in the compliance of all the principals in the United Nations charter, as they have been bind to act as established in the United Nation’s Charter,

 

  1. Urges Ukraine to authorize the Crimea Peninsula to create a new referendum with truthful peace and public safety in order to set the legal character on this decision for the citizens of Crimea,

 

  1. Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.
